Hi, I having trouble with a 2001 Camaro SS w/monsoon. Im installing a Prestige 2-way Remote start and alarm system and I have everything working except the tach wire. The alarm system needs to learn the tach siginal and iv tried everything i can find and now i need help. Iv tried the #10 & #13 of the pcm, i tried a white wire at passenger kick panel and i cant figure it out. Please Help, has anyone previously done a remote start on a 00-02 Camaro with a v-8.

I have everything else wired up corectly and the vats system is bypased and everything, just cant get a proper tach siginal..

 TACH SIGNAL SEE NOTES
WHITE at the Ignition module on the top of the engine for the 3.8L. The 5.7L engine has a coil per cylinder. The WHITE tach wire can be found at the PCM behind the right strut tower at pin-35 of the 80 pin connector.

Absolute best tach signal on Camaro (or any GM for a fact) is the CMP.

The CMP is the cam sensor and the connector for the 5.7 is located at the top rear of the engine. It's the BROWN / White in a two-pin plug. Also in pin 73 of the PCM. The PCM is on the right strut - same color.

Nice things about GM's is that the cam sensor is BROWN / White in 95% of the time and that there are only two BROWN / White's at the PCM, the other is the check engine light. Very easy to find and it sends a nice square wave making it easy for any remote car starter to read.

Route and tye-rap the wire away from the exhaust or chaffing.
