couple years ago i found a website that supplied many different switches, one of them was a magnetic switch that would open when the supplied keypad(magnet) was waved over it. but i have since lost this website.   does anyone know where to locate such a switch ?

There are tons of them out there. It took me 20 seconds to find this one. It's relatively cheap and designed to activate a relay due to the limited current (500mA) allowed through the switch. You should consult the datasheet for your specific needs. https://www.cotorelay.com/RI-70_Series.pdf
