Well I have taken in my vehicle twice now to Circuit city and they finally gave up on the install of my remote start. Said they couldn't do it. So I returned everything and now am checking to see if this is something I could do myself? I have read alot of the postings on here and it seems that if I buy a module it would be doable but I would still need to hook up some resistors and relays which I'm not familiar with. First of all, what is the best and easiest brand to install in my 2006 Dodge Ram Diesel? Is this something a novice could install or should I just try somewhere else? Thanks for your time! Circuit City gave up? I find this very odd, from what I understood their installers were supposedly certified and pretty decent (at least in my area they are not bad).
The 06 Dodge is a pretty complicated setup without the right parts and experience with starters/alarms. If you mess something up on your truck and the dealership traces it back to the remote start/alarm they can void the electrical portion of your warranty. To top this off, most of the better alarm manufacturers will not warranty their products on a do it yourself job. Brand name recommendations will vary greatly from installer to installer but there are a few that are highly recommended like DEI, Compustar, and Audiovox.
If you are not experienced with a job like this I would recommend taking it to a professional shop but not a big box store. Do you have any smaller local shops around? If you post the area you live in, someone here might be familiar with the shops in your area and might be able to offer some assistance or even offer to do the job for you.

My God dude please don't do it yourself ecspecially if you don't know about resistors and stuff it is a sure way to fry a car. Which I might add is easily done even by the pros. Mistakes happen but if you add lack of knowledge in with that you are almost gauranteed a huge headache. I admire you wanting to try though kudos on that but have someone with experiece show you how it's done. I work for the state of Tennessee doing all the alarms and remote starts. I would help you if your close. But I can definitely lead you in the right direction for a reputable shop. There are plenty out there and as for Circuit City you are not the first that I have heard of them turning down. I couldn't even get them to give me quote for 10 grand worth of alarms and installs leading me to one of the many jobs I do for the state now. The smaller stores that put real care in their work are usually the best in my opinion.
