I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with a series 200 command start. The unit is buried deep under the dash and I can't see the model # but the booklet is a 200 series and came with the unit when purchased. The remote is a cs555 with two buttons.
The Jeep factory remote has two buttons also, 1 to unlock and 1 to lock and it works every time both ways.
The cs555 remote has the same button to lock and unlock. The unlock works every time without problem. The lock function works occasionally and it seems like it is after 2 pushes of the button. I have reset the system checked the battery and even tried to clean the contacts on the buttons. They look like micro switches and are sealed so I didn't think you could clean anything. Can anyone offer troubleshooting steps to resolve this problem?

Those CS555 remotes often go bad over time. You will need to replace the remote control or be able to solder a new contact button .

The button used for the lock and unlock function works every time on unlock. It is only the lock push that doesn't work. Since it is the same button would I still need to solder a new switch. I was wondering if it was possible the switch on the car that controls the lock and unlock. Info is limited but it appears it is a + to open and - to close. Or vice versa.

Thank-you.

Have you been able to meter the LOCK wire on the car when you press the button to lock the car ? If it doesn't send a proper signal to the vehicle when pressed, it might be a problem with the CPU.

Thanks Jeff.

I will try to look at it this weekend.
