So I have this 2003 Impreza WRX. I wanted to get an alarm with a turbo-timer installed but the guy at the shop told me he coudn't do it unless it was an automatic.

He explained that the remote start feature had to work for an alarm's turbo-timer feature to work.

I know absolutely nothing about installing an alarm besides a vague sense of the theory behind it, but this makes no sense to me what-so-ever. My understanding of remote-start was that it couldn't be done on 5-speeds b/c the clutch could not be physically pushed in. Now, if the car was just sitting there idling, why couldn't it continue to idle if the clutch is never going to be pushed in? Besides, friends of mine have hooked up regular, dash-mounted turbo-timers to their 5-speeds...

So what is this guy talking about?
He wanted to install this alarm.

All Compustar turbo modes work with automatic or manual transmission vehicles. If your already installing it into a manual vehicle, there's nothing extra you have to do with wiring it up for turbo mode aside from programming.
