Hey guys,

I wanted to know if anyone has tried programming the compustar remote(blue) from the 2W900FMR with the compustar 2W8000FM brain.

I first purchased the 2W900FMR with the Blue Remote and the 2nd car feature so that it can be used on 2 different vehicles. I have just recently purchased the 2W8000FM unit with the Grey Remote for the 2nd vehicle but realized the Blue Remote can't be programmed to the 2W8000FM.

I've read many sites that say the 2 units are essentially the same just one is for US and one is for Canada and that the frequencies are different.

Personally I'm very confused as Compustar doesn't even have any online help and they don't even list the 2W8000FM in their product line.

Please can someone give their insight.

Thanks

I believe the antennas a different as well. Diff. remote, diff. antenna.

Someone with more background will chime in soon I'm sure.

The frequencies are different as you stated so they are not interchangeable, simple. They don't have online help because the products are supposed to be restricted to dealers only in which we have dealer support. As far the model numbers I am not totaly familiar with model numbers in canada.

the brains are interchangable, the antenna's are what make the system.

in order to program a 900fmr remote you need a 900fm-ant antenna

Since you have a Compustar. Your best bet it to get another remote and antenna. That ONLY if you want to the the 2nd car feature. The 2w900fmr will not program with a canadian antenna. Word,

I only have limited experience with Compustar, but I was going to say what dswift said.

If you can find a Compustar dealer who will order/sell the parts separately, you should be able to just upgrade the lesser unit by purchasing the better-grade antenna and remote.

Or if you're on a tight budget, maybe they would let you instead down-grade the better unit, taking your long-range remote and antenna in trade? Doesn't hurt to ask.

or you can simply use what you got and trade the back up one way remote and BAM! problem solved. Your just looking for the 2nd car feature correct. heh word
