I'm going to install a Viper 5900 on a 2007 Mercury Milan and was wondering what's the best bypass module to use?I went by the authorized viper shop and they said i need to go to the dealer and get an extra key made for the bypass module they use.Is there a bypass module out there that doesn't need an extra key kept in it or a ring around my steering column?

I found the bypass on bypasskits.com.The PKU-F2.Is this a good module?

It seems like they didnt want to help you. If they are an authorized dealer then they would know that they're are 3 bypasses used by DEI for this. You have the 1100F which is programable via USB for different vehicles and a 556U(which a key is required) and 556S which does not require a key but needs 2 keys to get programed. Its the same as a 556U because it does use ring around the key cylinder but does not require a key in the box. Another alternative is made by Fortin which is the "KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL". This bypass should also work. I actually like Fortin. Had bad experience with DEI Honda Bypasses and switched to Fortin in which have worked flawlessly.

Sorry but I just realized that the Fortin Bypass is not available till the summer. So it looks like you should go with the 556S

They are a authorized dei installation shop.Since i know a little about car audio/security installations i go in with all the questions i need to ask.If they start tripping on themselves then i know that shop is not for me and my brand new car.What i think i'll do is walk in with my own bypass kit,because i do not want an extra "Valet" key made.Maybe they don't like the whole having to wrap the wire around the cylinder style.

If they are a DEI shop then definately use the 556S. Easy istall and works great...

Ok you might be a little confused. The 556U also uses a ring(your version of wrapping a wire) on the key cylinder and a key inside the box. The 556S is the same exact thing which is also putting a ring around the key cylinder. The only difference is that the 556S uses two keys JUST TO PROGRAM. Thats all there is to it. The 556U uses a key inside the box and then connects to the car via the ring on the key cylinder to turn on. Thats why its just plain old easy to use the 556S because its the same principal but NO KEY which what you want isnt it?

Yes that is exactly it.The Module they use needs me to have my dealer make an extra key to keep inside the module,and that i'm not going to do.I went to the DEI bypass module lookup and this is what i got

Best thing to do is get the 556SW and call it a day. a 1100F may require more wiring with the same result. If your up for the challenge get the 1100F but i pretty much guarantee it may cost more.

The 556S is the way to go. They are bullet proof, never a problem....
