Those units must learn Tach or they will not start. The park lights would give seven flashes if Tach was not learned. ------------- csorb

The control switch comes in the box with the unit. There is the pushbutton program switch and the red handled toggle control switch that must be plugged in and set to the on position. ------------- csorb

ialready did that but it still wont start. i have a harness that i havent hooked up yet cause i dont know how
Posted By: csorb
Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 5:53 PM
That harness is a auxilary output harness used for special applications. You should not need it for the car to start, or at least to get the park lights to flash. Did you check the hood pin switch to make sure that it is not grounding out?

yes i even held it in my hand to see if it works but i got nothing do i have to disable somthing
Posted By: csorb
Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 5:57 PM
Also a)make sure that both fuses in the two thick red wires are good. b) Make sure that you do not accidentaly have 12 volts on the BROWN / black (brake) wire c) check the wires in the harness against the included diagram or against another unit. I have seen them screw up the wire locations when assemblying the harness. ------------- csorb

turn the ignition on then push the valet button 3 times shut off the car and then hold the start botton for 3 seconds
Posted By: csorb
Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 6:03 PM
The way to start the car with this system is to press the green button on the remote twice at the speed that you would say . " one thousand- two thousand". ------------- csorb

the process that you told me do i first turn on the the car and push the valet switch 3 times or just do the button thing
Posted By: csorb

Do nothing with the car or the valet button. Those procedures are for programming. use only the remote. Make sure the ignition is off. ------------- csorb

You can put the system into diagnostic mode (perhaps remote start feature 7 or 9) and it should tell you the problem.)

my lights blink 3 times

Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 6:41 PM
The manual should inform you of the problem for that code. Also I would double check the control switch and the hood pin now that you are starting it properly. Perhaps disconect the diodes from the hood pin altogether to make sure it's not reading a ground through the alarm trigger wire.

diodes?
Posted By: csorb
Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 6:48 PM
Yes. In the box came a special connector to be able to connect both the alarm trigger wire and the remote start inhibit wire to the same scource (hood pin). In the black coating over the Y-connector are two diodes. Without those diodes the alarm trigger wire will feed a signal to stop the car from remote starting.

you are talking about the black wire with shrink tubing right cause it is installed

now the code is saying no tach signal
Posted By: csorb
Date Posted: February 09, 2003 at 6:57 PM
That is correct. Unplug it and try again. Also check the diagnostic code.

Even without the tach wire hooked up, you should still get seven flashes. Perhaps you accidentaly unprogrammed the remote start button. To reprogram it, Turn the ignition key on press the program button 5 times hold the green button on the remote so that you hear a long chirp take out the key. ------------- csorb

Dude, we can't help much if you keep giving us three-word replies. Give lots of details and we can give much better answers. What exactly do you mean by "doesn't start?" After you press the green button twice, exactly what does, or does not, happen? Have you hooked up your tach connection, and have you programmed tach to the Audiovox unit? Did the unit learn tach successfully?

Give us the wiring that you had used on the truck and the wires you used on the remote starter. Did you power up all the accessory & ignition wires ?? Here is the wiring diagram for the truck.......match the wires tot his diagram: | ITEM | WIRE COLOR |POL| WIRE LOCATION | | 12V|red or pink/black |+ |ignition harness | | STARTER|yellow |+ |ignition harness | | IGNITION|dk. blue |+ |ignition harness | | ACCESSORY|BLACK/ orange |+ |ignition harness | | SECOND ACCESSORY|BLACK/ white |+ |ignition harness | | POWER LOCK|ORANGE / purple |+ |blue plug in | | POWER UNLOCK|pink/purple |+ |drivers kick panel | | LOCK MOTOR|ORANGE / black | |drivers kick panel | | UNLOCK MOTOR|blue | |drivers kick panel | | DISARM DEFEAT|pink/black | |drivers kick panel | | PARKING LIGHTS +|BLACK / YELLOW | |*1 | | HEADLIGHTS|lt. green |- |steering column | | DOOR TRIGGER|blk/blu & tan/red *2|- |*1 | | TRUNK/HATCH PIN|tan/black |- |*1 | | FCTRY ALARM ARM|arms with lock | | | |FCTRY ALRM DISARM|lt. Make sure that you have properly programmed tach. You can go straight to the odd color on any fuel injector for this unit. Tach is learned only if the park lights flash during "learn" mode. Make sure to give the system at least 15 seconds during the learning procedure (lights flashing). let go of program button and wait for lights to turn off. Car should start no problem.

for the tach it says to hook up hte wire to the TACHOMETER|BLACK/ gray | |ignition coil so i did that and all it does is turn on not start and the lights flash twice. by the book it means that there is no tach or low tach signal.

do the lights come on on the dash board but the the starter dont start?or does nothing at all happen.if nothing at all happens then the tach is not learned
