Hi,I've done alot of searching already on this site and found out I have to run 2 extra relays and a 4.7 resistor to get this to work with my new alarm..I was thinking about just getting an omega dsl but I can't seem to find any anyway..I'm going to use the diagram i found on here  https://https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page2.asp#fp and my questions are---

What kind of relays (exact)?

Do I REALLY need to add a fuse between the oem BLACK/ green wire and the new wiring for the relays? If so,what kind of fuse? I have a 10 amp and 15 amp inline holder here just sitting around.

I already bought the resistor from radioshack but how do I add it to the wiring? Solder I suppose?  .and should i tape it up after i solder it or does it need some air?

If anyone has anything else usefull to add about the 1 wire system please let me know, this is my 1st alarm install.

Thanks in advance.

Ok,I found a omega dlr-u on ebay..will this work for me and make it as simple as possible? also will it plug directly into a crimestopper unit? thanks alot.

heres the ebay link https://cgi.ebay.com/OMEGA-DLR-U-UNIVERSAL-POWER-DOOR-LOCK-INTERFACE-RELAYS_W0QQitemZ220101216228QQihZ012QQcategoryZ75389QQcmdZViewItem

You would follow the diagram on this page. It is a simple hook up, no real need for a data module. You should always fuse a circuit that you are supplying to protect the vehicle. Relays are simple Bosch type automotive relays, any install shop would have them including the box stores as well as any NAPA. You can typically get them online significantly cheaper though for example from here.

Thanks..Only question that still stands is the resistor. Can I just solder the resistor inline with the wiring? Is it that simple?

Yes it is. Just make sure that your resistor is mounted securely and does not run the risk of breaking off. As long as you follow that diagram you will be fine.

And what specific size fuse would i use for this? like i said i have a 10 amp and 15 amp just sitting around..

sorry for making multiple replies, but i cannot edit yet..

basically help me make a list ..

(2) 30 amp spdt relays.

(1) 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistor

(1) inline fuse what amp?

(1) what gauge wire gauge wire?

thanks again

10 amp on the fuse size should be fine. Gauge of wire is not that important as there is no significant load on the circuit, I typically use an 18ga for low current applications such as this (because that is what I have in "stock"). Yes those relays are fine(the ones in the link), you could use SPST relays too but the SPDT 30a are much more common and being as such more readily available and typically cheaper. Your resistor needs to be 4.7k ohm not 4.7 ohm. Meaning the total resistance needs to be 4700 ohms, 1/2 watt is fine.

Tape up the wire ends of the resistor.....ya don't want them touching anything metal.

Another question..This alarm I bought came with a directed valet/led combo..So what am I supposed to do? I always thought you should hide the valet switch,,but you can't hide the led,so I have to mount the damn valet switch on the dashboard ? I realize you need the ignition switch turned on to make any use of it,but still, we all know it's not that hard to get past the key hole..posted_image

Anyone else with a led/valet combo, what did you do?

is there a way to remove the led from the pod?

Ok,playing with leads me to believe that you cannot separate the 2 without breaking something..So it's going to be visible: period..So can i just install a switch that allows the valet to be switched off and just hide the switch? If so,what kind of switch?  Thanks in advance..

P.S. I searched everywhere and couldnt find any info.
