As far as I can tell, the only difference between these two systems is that the Viper has longer range because it has a XHF antenna instead of the HF that the Hornet uses. Is this correct? What are the real world differences between these two in terms of range? I actually like the Hornet's remote better (grey with black buttons) than the Viper (dark blueish with grey and orange buttons), but I don't want to sacrifice a considerable difference in range just over style.  Can anyone help me out with this terrible dillema?

John

P.S. This site is really great, it helped my out tremendously with installing a crimestopper RS on my previous car (Saab 900 Turbo), and now I am getting ready to put a DEI in my new (to me) '84 BMW 745i turbo.

Are you saying that the difference in range between these 2 systems is 500 feet? That would be a big differnce! Or are you saying that the range for one or both of them is 500 feet? Thanks.

John

Sorry to ask you so many questions, but is it possible to use a different remote with the Viper (like the one from the Hornet), or is it possible to use a XHF antenna on the Hornet, and get the longer range but still use the Hornet's remote? If not, I guess I'll just go with the Viper. Thanks very much.
