Subject: solara 99 unlock problem, double pulse?

Today, I installed Impulse Combo remote alarm&starter  on Toyota solara 99, Everything was ok except the unlock sometimes worked and sometimes didn't(even can't unlock with vehcle unlock button, need to start the car to unlock). I suspect this vehcle has double pulse unlock, but I am not sure. and I am also not sure if the starter programmable features have double pulse unlock option. It is impulse model 4040.(the install manual say this combo remote  has double pulse unlock feature, but the combo remote program option doesn't).

Does anyone know this solara 99 vehcle is double pulse unlock? If this impulse model 4040 has double pulse unlock feature? Any recommendations are very appreciated.

Use doc 1040....your car has something called lock detection....if you'd like you can PM me your email address and I will give you the document on how to inferface, if no other person post the document.

A 1070 isn't for Solara. If you are using switch wires the locks will stop working until the key is turned on. Use these wires...

Power Lock dk. blue/white   -  fuse box
Notes: Also found in the passengers kick. These wires will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself.

In a 25 pin plug on the bottom left side of the fuse box.
Power Unlock dk. blue   -  fuse box
Notes: Also found in the passengers kick. These wires will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself.

In a 25 pin plug on the bottom left side of the fuse box.

Hi all,

Mike M2 is right. I checked it  again today, and couldn't find the dk blue/white lock wire and dk. blue unlock wire at bottom left side of the fuse box. but I found them in the passengers kick. then I connected the module's lock and unlock wires to them. It worked perfectly. It is single pulse negative signal. But one thing I still don't understand. that is the previous lock/unlock wires( had probem with unlock operation)had been connected to the alarm&keyless entry module(this car had alarm&keyless entry before) for lock and unlock wires and It worked without any problems. How come the problem happened to this Combo remote alarm&starter?

This car is equipped with a feature called 'Child safety locks'. The reason that the locks were not working properly all the time is that the car shuts down the unlock cicuit when it sees you open the door, lock the door, and then close the door. To get around that, look for a wire that goes changes polarity when the manual lock switch is pushed. Once you have that wire, blast it with a ground at the same time as you pulse your unlock and it will work every time.

tragik described exactly what I encountered before. The car's symptom is sometimes the remote can lock and unlock the doors. when the driver's door is open, the remote still can lock and unlock the doors. but when I close the the driver's door with the car door locked. the doors will not response to the remote's unlock and lock signal,  even I use the car's lock switch. I need to use key or remote start the car in order to unlock the door.

Yes, the unlock switch goes dead when the car is locked a certain way.

When you use the key-cylinder unlock wire, the one that tests while turning the key from the outside, you'll be all set.

Dark-orange plug at the bottom of the fuse box. If I remember, right, blue is the wire that tests off the passenger door; this'll unlock all doors at once. If you prefer to have 2-step unlock, use RED / green, which tests off the driver's door.
