in the last two days we have had the fuel shut off engaged in a ford escort and also a 2003 f250, anyone else had this problem on the escort it is in the drivers kick panel but in the 250 it was in the passenger kick, strange, maybe it was shutting the hood?

Usually takes a good wack to trip the fuel shutoff, what work was done to them, just security/remote starts?

I would reset and use a heavy scredriver and wack the side of it,(with the plastic end) softly at first, and harder untill it trips.   You will see that it takes a good jolt for it to trip.

It only did it once?  I have seen this happen from time to time.  They are designed to shut of the fuel pump in an accident.    As long as you know its there, its not a big deal.

we are doing remote starts, on the escort we were in that areabut in the truck we were never on that side we just reset them and we were fine, just wondering if any electrical something had happened, two in one week, keeps it stuck in the back of my head.

Nothing electrical can affect that fuel cutoff switch.  It is proctected by a fuse, its only purpose is to trip when you get in an accident..
