on the compustar 2wss-as

what does the "STATUS" wire do.......its a negative wire........is that the alarm module ground?

No, the Ground wire is the thick black wire. The status wire is used as the activation trigger for bypass modules. It provides a ground when you hit the button to start the car. It continues to output a ground the entire time the car is remote started. Not all installations require the use of the status wire, but a majority of cars built in the last 10 years will need some type of bypass module. Do NOT connect the status wire to ground, or you may damage the unit.
