Subject: 791xv trunk trigger on remote, input only?

I just hooked up the Blue wire which is a (-) multiplex input to the Trunk Trigger. I arm the car and open the trunk and the alarm goes off, so everything works as it should. The problem is that my alarm flashes (Hood). Obviously it is the Trunk that is open. A buddy told me that the (Trunk) on the remote was for "Trunk Release". Is there any way (through the use of a relay or something) to make (Trunk) on the remote flash instead of (Hood) when the trunk is open. It is kind of annoying. I would like to know what part of my car to check (granted I could look, but you know posted_image ) It would be nice to know "ahh, s***, someone is trying to jack my subwoofer!!!!!", as opposed to, "Ahh, s***, someone has popped my hood or popped my trunk or dislocated my battery!!!!"

Just a thought. I will be studying the wiring to see if there is a way I can "wing" it.

THanks

Yeah, I just looked. The RED / white is the trunk Release, but this is an output. I'm looking for an Input that shows when the Trunk is open. Unfortunately, I have the RED / WHite being used for my window mods because I like using the AUX button to control the Windows... I hope this doesn't pose a problem, but I could change it if it will fix the (Trunk) issue on my remote display

I kind of thought that too; Maybe I do have something wrong with the wiring, but I triple checked. Anything that triggers the blue wire shows up as the hood. The only thing hooked up to the hood trigger is the hood pin itself... I plan on hooking up the backup battery negative trigger output (blue wire) to the hood trigger, but I need to get a diode at radioshack. Despite what a credible source told me, I can't remote start my car without putting a diode on the backup battery negative trigger output) and the hood trigger .

I hope nothing is seriously wrong with my alarm, I mean everything appears to work fine (siren wise), but the only thing is how it reports on my remote display for the trunk, that is it. It shows hood when I trigger the blue wire. It is getting me frustrated, there has to be something that I'm missing here... Maybe I'm using the wrong trunk pin wire? Since it is a negative input, could I just arm the car with me in it and ground this wire to the car and see what it reports. This will verify if it is the trunk wire I'm using or the alarm right? Thanks again for the help

I guess grounding it to the car would emulate of trunk pin. If this works, I will just buy a trunk pin and mount it. I'll try this tommorow and see what happens. I'm sure I'll scream if it doesn't. posted_image

the gray wire where the tach wire is located is the hood.  it has just a few wires from that harness

Nevermind, I couldn't wait till Tommorow. I grounded the alarm inside the car after I armed the car and the Alarm went off with (Hood) selected. It still did not report as (Trunk)I guess that idea is out the windowposted_image

When I said grounded I meant the Blue Wire (H1/7) on the main harness which is the multiplex input, zone 4. It still reported as hood. I double check the hood wire (Gray-H3/4) and it is hooked up to the hood pin and that is it

Obviously I have something wrong. I'll re-check everything again tomorrow. I'll be sure to let you and the forum know what I find. It might be an ID10T error (Idiot) : D . Thanks again for your help.

you need to set the p button on the remote to report what you want it to. its in the manual.

I did that and it appears to work. I press the (P) button to get into Program Mode then I pressed the Aux button to cycle between Hood and Trunk and I eventually got both.

When I trigger the hood it shows as Hood
When I trigger the door is shows as door
When I trigger the trunk it shows as Trunk + Hood

I'm not sure why it is showing as Hood as well, but it works! Atleast I now know that anytime trunk is displayed it is because trunk was triggered. Thanks! I'll try rechecking my wiring too just to be safe

I think I answered my own question. Here was I did:

I went back into Programming Mode (P) and instead of selecting both Hood and Trunk I only selected Trunk. It reports as it should!!!! I guess that this option is for zone 4 which is kind of wierd. Maybe they do that so you can customize what it actually monitors which makes since. I wish they would have defaulted it to trunk.

Now when I trigger hood it shows Hood
When I trigger trunk it shows trunk
When I trigger door it shows door

The option I set according to the manual:
After entering programming mode (P)

"->Sensor icon selection (hood/trunk)
Use "AUX" to toggle display selections between hood only (1 beep), trunk only (2 beeps), or hood and trunk (3 beeps) on the LCD display. The installer will have set the remote up to correctly display the installation (hood pin only, trunk pin only, or hood and trunk pin installed.)"

I wish they would have said that this was for the H1/7 Blue (-) Multiplex Input. That would have helped tremendously, but never the less THANKS GUYS FOR POSTING AND HELPING ME GET THIS SOLVED>. GREAT FORUM EXPERIENCE! Thanks posted_image
