I just realized something tonight. I know the Security vs Convenience trade-off; if it is in someway convenient, you lose some security. I wanted to put a fuel / starter / and Ignition Kill switch in my car (well atleast two). I wanted to flip this switch(s) every night before I go to bed as a backup protection. I just realized that if I do this, I will be disabling Remote Start. Is there a way (through the use of a Relay) that I could have kill switch protection, but without the expense of my Remote Start feature.

I can't believe I did not think about this one...posted_image

It almost seems like a physical switch wouldn't be possible unless the actual connection was made in between the remote start connections?

Hmmm....

Any help would be great

How do you have the switch configurated?  If you have it connected to a relay that stops the fuel pump from engaging then you can use the ground while running wire(blue/white can be used or little blue wire from relay pack) to break the wire that will enable to fuel pump to reconnect only on R/S.

ok most remote starts have 3 ignition wires.the starter kill will be bypassed when you remote start and also the ignition kill. the only one you need to worry about is the fuel. if the remote start has 3 ignition wires on the relay put the 3rd ignition wire to trigger the relay to turn on with the remote start. if the car is not remote started the car is dead but when remote started the ignition will get power as well as the starter and the fuel...let me kno if you need more help i have done it before so let me kno if its confussing..

I have an idea as well; I have a lot of AUX Outputs on my remote with different channels. Maybe I could use one of the channels to activate a relay for a few seconds (the relay that breaks the fuel pump circuit) and within this time I can remote start my car. Like I press a certain button combination to activate an aux feature and within a minute or press the remote start. I mean, this seems hard, but I wouldn't mind knowing my car is better protected + I have convenience of Remote Start

use the blue/white wire.....that gives a ground ouput whenever you activate the remote start.  No need for that aux channel

Thanks; that looks like the wire I was looking for.

Would this work?

I think it would be great because I can still turn the physical switch off breaking the circuit, but If I remote Start it will bypass this switch. I'm guessing I still will have to flip the switch before I turn off the remote start feature with my key to start driving. I think it would work great! What do you guys think?

once you get in the car you still have to physically turn the switch off its just to bypass it when the switch is on..

Just to let everybody know I tested the design above I made and it works. If you remote start the relay is the fuel pump switch (turning the fuel pump on). If you put your key in and press the brake to deactivate Remote Start then it will turn off the relay killing the fuel. You have to be sure to flip the physical kill switch prior to deactivating the remote start when you are in the car. Pretty cool and safe plan to follow. Actually it's better cause you have two fuel kill switches.
