all the wires are connected apart from these;

1 Blue/Black-200mA)Windows Rolling-up Output....
2 Blue: (-) Door Trigger Input....
3 Red: (+) Door Trigger Input...
4 White:: (+)Ignition of Key Cylinder (Key ON) Input....

thats all the manual (or piece of paper) says. i have a 96' 318i se but these limited descriptions are 'doing my head in' !!
where on the car do they connect to??? i know im not the brightest but....

ok the car you are working on if you need to find out what is the door trigger meaning neg or pos the door trigger is what lets the alarm know the door is open so find out if its neg or pos when you find out you only use the one you need and the other door trigger wire is left alone. the blue/ black dont need it its if you want the window to go up when the alarm is armed and you need a bypass for that anyways .. and as for white the just connect the igntion wire of the car to it so the alarm knows when the car is on...

that car has a negative trigger you only use the blue wire not the red.. and connect the blue wire to BROWN / red from driver read side pillar and the white ignition wire goes to green from the ignition harness..

Can any one helppppppp !

im wiring an alarm up on a 96' 318i SE and the instructions aint too clear for the central locking part... it says if the car has a lock motor on the drivers side (which i been told it has..) wire like this between the lock motor and the original central controller..:

WHITE/ Black to the up wire of car
Yellow to the common line of the car
White to the down wire of the car

Does anyone know what the colour wires are on the car i need to connect the above to?

any help?

According to DEI the locks on the 96 3 series is positive trigger:

Power Lock      WHITE/ red       +       factory alarm plug
Power Unlock      blue/red       +       factory alarm plug

They also list this note:

BMW, 3 SERIES, 1996, Power Lock

The alarm plug is a black 12 pin plug located just behind the glove box. It is mounted with the pins facing you atop a vent just to the left of the body computer. Other wires at the alarm plug are: 12V- RED / white; Accessory- PURPLE / white; Siren- BLACK/ blue; Ground- BROWN / orange. Do not use the power sources at the alarm plug to operate high-current devices. The other side of the siren wire is mounted in a 2 pin plug at the passenger rear corner of the engine compartment. The other wire in the plug is a brown ground wire. DEI recommends attaching the siren at this point.

I dont know if if this is relevant but the UK version seems to be different on DEI.  Locks are on pin 17 and unlock is pin 4 or 19(positive triggers).  Does not state colors.  Its behind the glove box and its in a yellow or purple plug.

Enice is exactly right it's behind glove box and is a white plug which becomes purple later years. The lock position 4 is unfilled, cable has to be CAREFULLY placed (if you get a whisker to 3 you've got deadlock and window close as I once discovered while stupidly leaving key in ignition!) You can also play these cables to get :- auto lock/unlock, deadlocking with alarm and window roof/cabriolet roof closing. I  would rather not explain because I believe original writer is not apro and as such should not get involved! Try explaining how you obtain remote start on one of these to Joe Public!

Why not just phone me on 07966 003 824 and all will be explained. If you are not a pro do not even attempt this vehicle!! I'm assuming you have a Toad alarm by the limited descripton of its wiring, do you have solder, diodes for each door contact and (2) relays for deadlocking and window closure?

your right... not a pro..! i fitted another alarm on my mates E30 a while ago and all went fine, easy to follow paperwork, no probs but this one called 'automate' has got both of us stump'd. The paperwork is just an A4 sheet folded in half! with limited description....anyway cheers for any help to sort these locks out..(ill leave the deadlocks and windows!!!!!!!!).

96' 318ise that doesn't have a 12pin alarm plug behind the glove box that everyone talks about??? really doing my head in now!! The (piece of paper) instruction manual says if car is fitted with central lock and lock motor on drivers side (which i told it is) then the alarm wires i need to connect are;

White = down
Yellow= common line
WHITE/ Black=up

Read my earlier post, it's either a 28+ pin quadlock in white or purple, sits behind the glovebox between a black square plug and a similar yellow plug.Pin 4 is lock and pin 17 is unlock.
