I have a Viper 350HV installed and working fine, yet it is bugging me that the chirp sound is so low volume. I've read somewhere that cutting the black ground wire on the siren (there's two, one is black striped, the other is heavier gauge and pure black) will increase the volume, but I'm hesitant to try it. Can anyone tell me for sure if that will work, or what else to do if that is not the answer?

Thanks.

Yup, if you cut the black wire it will give full vol. chirps. If you are hesitant to try it, just cut it in the middle of the loop and make sure it works, if it doesn't work (it will) splice it back together. If you cut the BLACK/ white wire, it will disable some of the tones.

Wait, I'm confused. There's a BLACK/ white wire and a thick black wire that go to ground. There's a taped-up set of wires also coming from it, but it's wrapped in electrical tape so I can't see what wires are in that... You're saying not to cut the thick black wire? Then I don't understand which one to cut!

If you have a 514 siren you have one red wire and one black wire that is attached to the red wire. The red is for power to the siren and the black wire is for the ground. On the back of the siren there should be another black wire and a BLACK/ white wire (black with white stripe). Both of these wires should be in a "loop", both ends of each wire are inside of the siren. If you cut the black wire that is "looped" you will enable the loud chirps. If you cut the BLACK/ white wire you will get rid of some of the tones (can't remember which ones, but I think you lose the last 4 tones).

Hate to be annoying, but I'm still a bit confused. Here is an actual picture of what I see. Which wire do I cut?
