I have just bought a python 990sst .. it does have great range in the open air.. but once i am indoor or if there a a building blocking the car then my range would drop DRAMATICALLY ..i always see u guys saying your 2 way alarm has great range especially for compustar.. I am just wondering izt normal for the range to drop so much when a building is blocking the car For my system it is sometimes less then 50 meters if a buiding is blocking it.. any advice from u guys would be much appreciated Thanks

Well it all depends where you are. Don't forget the FCC allows us to use so and so mhz while creating traffic as well as accepting traffic. where is your antenna located? Maybe get your antenna swapped to see if that fixes your issue. A building will affect the range. Sorry to say. But yes. heh No if you had a compustar. hah. their second gen is coming out soon baby! can't wait for that doodie. yeah boy!

i havent used any 2 way alarm b4.. so i am not sure whether this is normal.. if my car is parked behind a 3 storey building the range would be like 50 meters.. 50m and 1 miles is a big diff.. just wondering r there any viper 5900 users out there can tell if this is normal thanks..

My car has amazing range and works great here in NYC where we have building everywhere. My 5900 remote starts past a block full of buildings but then again its different everywhere with the frequency traffc.

with my 5900 works probably at least 1/2 a mile with a bunch of buildings between me and my car...

I really don't see compustar being much better if at all as far as range goes since they all use the same technology... i think the one compustar has a 1.25 mile range so its slightly further than the 5900, but as far as comparing a 1 mile range DEI to a 1 mile range compustar, i doubt there would be any difference in how far they would work even thru buildings..

i have checked the basic stuff.. antena wire fully extended.. antena is fixed to the windscreen right behind the rear mirror.. changed transmitter battery.. i do have refelctive tint on the top part of the windscreen where the antena is Does the reflective tint really cut down the range so much?

have you tested this yourself? I remember someone posting this exact quesiton. but DEI uses a different bandwith than compustar. They are different spread spectrum. I believe DEI uses a Wider bandwith (25 channels) and Compustar uses a smaller bandwith (50 channels). So useing a larger bandwith shortens your range but a narrow bandwith extends your range. Hence why DEI uses a AAA battery and Compustar uses a AA battery. Word ------------- "dont ground out!"
