Just got done installing a viper 791xv in a 2003 avalanche...when the vehicle is remote started and you do the takeover to the key the security light comes on around 2 seconds after. I spent all day on the phone with my tech support and directed's tech support with no luck and i'm just wondering if anyone has the slightest clue why it's doing that.    Both acc wires are powered and everything meters exactly like what diretechs says it should and the remote start works fine just want to get rid of that light for my customer..I used a 1700g for the bypass and also tried it by bypassing the passlock with a relay and the correct resistor but no luck there either..thanx in advance if you guys figure something out

I am not familiar with DEI bypass modules at all. BUT when this problem pops up using Astrostart products, here is their solution.

On the ground while running between the bypass and the remote start you will need to install a relay. Tagg off of the ground while running for pins 87 and 86. 30 goes to ground 85 will get 12 volts from the pink ign. wire at the column. You MUST install a diode in line with the connection to the ignition wire. Cathode towards the relay.

Try this.posted_image

Sorry i can't quite understand what you are saying on how to wire up the relay...(it's been a long couple of days) any way you can just list it 85- 86 like that man it would save me a headache..thanks in advance

pins 86 and 87 get connected to the ground while running. between the R/S, and the bypass. (in DEI lingo it's called status output)

Pin 30 goes to a good solid ground. pin 85 goes to the pink ign wire in the harness of the truck. on the wire that connects to the pink wire and pin 85, you need a diode "in line" with the line facing the relay.

Hows that? Now remote start and do a key takeover and see if the security light is on?

Kartuneman I am not questioning your method.  My question is why is that problem appearing and how does that method really help it?  Basically the theory behind it.

Can you get your hands on a 457gw? Use this all the time on the avalanche's and gm's and never had this problem? Is the method with the inline relay supplying a true ground between the bypass and module? That what it seems like to me.....?
