Hi guys. I'm having a small problem getting my Viper 5000 to work correctly on my 1992 Nissan 240SX (S13). I've fully searched on this forum and others and have not gotten a definitive answer for my problem. On the Viper 5000 door lock wiring harness the following 6 wires exist:

violet ---unlock #87 normally open (input)
blue/black---unlock #30 common (output)
BROWN / black unlock #87A normally closed
Violet/black lock #87 normally open (input)
GREEN/ black lock #30 common (output)
WHITE/ black lock #87A normally closed
BLACK/ white Domelight supervision relay input #87

The 240SX has a power door lock actuator on each door with a door lock timer behind the passenger kick panel. The driver's door lock handle doubles as the control switch for both doors (the passenger door slaves off of the driver's door) and consists of the wires ORANGE / BLACK and BLACK.

Each door lock actuator motor also has two relatively heavy-gauge wires LIGHT-GREEN/ BLACK and LIGHT-GREEN.

My question is how do I get this to work correctly. The factory service manual does not mention if the 240SX's door lock system is normally open or closed or if its a postive or negative system.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave.

ok its been a long while since i've done this but i think i remember it. Its the ORANGE / black wire for lock/unlock. you'll need two relays as well.

You can get the orange and black in the kick panel.

To unlock you need to energize with a ground. To lock you need to open the circuit.

OK from the viper : Violet and Violet/black to ground. BROWN / Black and WHITE/ Black not used. Blue/Black and GREEN/ Black to relays.

first relay: Cut ORANGE / Black with one side go to 87a. 12v to 86. GREEN/ Black from viper to 85. Nothing on 87(cap off). Add a jumper of same gauge as ORANGE / Black from 30 to 87a of second relay.

Second Relay: 12v to 86. Blue/Black from viper to 85. Ground 87. Other end of cut ORANGE / black goes to 30.

Someone correct me if im wrong its been a while. Anyone else?

I really appreciate your help.  Is a diode required if I go with a single relay setup (wired inline with the unlock (-) output on #30)?  Or, should I go with a 2-relay setup as you mentioned?  Thanks again.

that might works as well. Basically your saying to put  blue/black on the 30 of the single relay. Like i said its been a while so hopefully someone else will chime in here as well, but i think it would work both ways.

I just found out through this form and digging a little deeper on the topic that the Viper 5000 has door lock relays already built-in. In that case, do you happen to know what wires on the Viper door lock harness hook up to the 240SX's wiring?

From Viper

  • Violet- no connection
  • Blue/Black- WHITE/ Black
  • BROWN / Black- ORANGE / Black In 240 One side
  • GREEN/ Black- ORANGE / Black In  240 Otherside
  • Violet/Black-Ground
