Ok i have a quick question, i pulled a compustar 2w900fm-s out of my moms automatic camry. However im trying to sell the remote start with installation some one wanted to know if it would work with a manual transmission. I said it would work but it would be somewhat unsafe. Ive done directed remote starts in manual transmissions, but the directed remote starts have neutral safety input wires where as the compustar does not. I was wondering could i hook up say the ebrake wire to the NSS wire on the car. Since its almost the same concept? If not is there anything i can do to make this work with a manual transmission with out having to do the whole sequence thing?

if im not mistaken, compustart are manual transmission safe. As for the neutral safety wire of directed remote starters it still would not be safe on manual vehicles. These remote starters are not meant for manual transmission cars. Other manufacturers like compustar have something called reservation mode which will make it safe.

right i know that. On the dei remote starts if the car has a neutral safety input you can hook it up to the neutral safety wire on the dei brain (which will only all the start in N) Which is some what semi safe. THe problem im ahving is i have the compustar for this situation and DOES NOT have a neutral safety wire, so im wondering if there is something else i can do to not put it in reservation mode.

The compustar has no neutral safety wire, but you can use the hood pin wire on the compustar (-). Use the neutral wire from the Maxima to tie into a relay that will NOT show a ground signal to the hood pin when the car is in neutral (safe time to remote start) but WILL show ground when the car is in a gear (bad time to start). You said this is an "S" model, therefore, no alarm. So, this method should work. You can also use the E-brake wire from the maxima to do the same thing -- when e-brake is up, hood pin will see no ground. When e-brake is down, hood pin will see ground and therefore not allow the car to start. ------------- The search function is your friend.

Well --> we'll call the e-brake wire or the NSS wire the "nissan" wire: If the nissan wire gives a (-) signal when active (i.e when the car is in neutral or when the e-brake is up), then you can tie that in as follows on a 5-pin SPDT 30A, 12v relay: 85: nissan wire 86 12 volts fused 87 nothing 87a compustar hood pin wire (-) 30 chassis ground (-) That way, a negative signal from e-brake or neutral would shift the SPDT circuit from 87a-30 to 87-30, connecting neutral/nothing to the compustar hood pin, and thus the remote starter will activate. And when the car is not in neutral or no-ebrake is applied, then the hood pin will be connected to chassis ground and will not start. ------------- The search function is your friend.

thank you very much. Thats what i needed, now i could do both, the E-brake + the hood pin using the same poles but with either the ebrake wire or the nissan neutral safety wire correct? I would do it just to be extra safe you know.

you'd have to do two relays in a row: relay1: 85: NSS wire (-) 86 12 volts fused + 30: chassis ground (-) 87a: nothing 87: terminal 30 on relay 2: ===== relay 2: 85: e-brake (-) 86: 12 volts fused + 87a: nothing 87: compustar hood pin wire (-) 30: from relay 1, terminal 87. ----> this way, you'll need the negative signal from e-brake AND nss wire to conduct the chassis ground (-) through relay 1 through to relay 2 to the cs hood pin wire. ------------- The search function is your friend.

What brain do you have dude?
CM4200? Do it have a GREEN / WHITE loop in the acess door of the brain?
i would not recommend putting an automatic brain in a man trans vehicle. Why dont you go to a local compuSTAR dealer and do a trade. Get one with the loop intact (not cut) thats my 2 cents. ------------- "dont ground out!"

Perfect. NO need for the neutral safety wire. Next issue I predict, will be bypassing the clutch. Send a negative "start" signal to the lt.blue at the switch above the pedal. -------------

clutch bypass is cake i usually use the negative status output to send a NEGATIVE signal to the clutch switch since the -negative status output is only used during cranking. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP i really appreciate it!

Status output, or ground while running is NOT what you need to use on your clutch. The status out activates before the remote start, stays active durring the remote start time, THEN shuts down after the remote start time. It is typically use dto trigger a bypass module. Your compustar has negative outputs used for 2nd accs. ign. AND start. Use this instead of the status wire. The clutch need a "start" signal, not a ground while running. Be carefull. -------------
