I'm trying to install a code alarm ca-230 in my 2007 kia sportage lx. It's basically a keyless entry with a panic alarm. The installation instructions are specific for my vehicle but I'm having problems finding various wires. Here's what I'm looking for:
1) Main ignition input- Installation instructions indicate this is a PINK wire located in the vehicles IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS. I found the harness and there is a pink, blue, red, white, orange, and green wires. I assume the pink wire is correct?
2) Anti-theft/starter kill circuit wire -Installation instructions indicate this is a GREEN wire located in the vehicles IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS. I assume the GREEN wire is correct?
3) Parking lights wire- Installation instructions indicate this is a BLUE w/BLACK TRACE wire located in the vehicles IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS. I can only locate a solid BLUE wire here in the harness, not blue w/black trace-any suggestions.
4) Horn wire-Installation instructions indicate this is a BLUE wire and found running down along the steering column. Can't locate or identify?-any suggestions.
5) Illuminated output (domelight wire)-Installation instructions indicate this is a YELLOW wire and found in a white plug at the fuse box on the driver side of dash. More than one yellow wire at this plug.-any suggestions.
6) Constant power wire-Installation instructions indicate this is a RED or WHITE wire located in the vehicles IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS. I assume I can use either the RED or White wire is correct?
7) Door lock wire-Installation instructions indicate this is a Yellow w/Orange Trace wire and found in a wiring harness that's plugged into the vehicles control module that's to the right of the steering column. Can't seem to locate the control module-what's the module look like??
8) Door unlock wire-Installation instructions indicate this is a Yellow wire and found in the same wiring harness that's plugged into the vehicles control module that's to the right of the steering column. Can't seem to locate the control module-what's the module look like??

3) you're looking in the wrong harness .. there is another harness, a steering column harness that sends harness plugs to the top fo the steering column -- try removing the steering column plastic shroud and you can trace this harness to the mid-steering column and you'll find the blue-black wire for the park lights.
4) same story -- your horn wire and park lights wires are in the same steering column wire bundle
5) you may not need to connect this wire -- here's how you tell: if you're in the kia, and you unlock the doors, if the dome light comes on, then don't worry about hooking up this wire.
6) yes, correct. Use a voltmeter to test ALL your wires.
7) the BCM (body control module) is a silver narrow box with multiple harnesses connected to it high up to the right of the steering column. It'll be above the accelerator pedal.

1,2,4, and 6: Assuming is not the correct method. Use your test light or multimeter, and verify that the wires you have are the correct ones.
It would be a shame to save 1-2 minutes of testing time, only to have to do the job over again, or worse, damage the alarm or the car.
3: Last couple of Sportages I remember doing, I caught a positive-trigger parking light wire at the backside of the dash dimmer switch.
It's a different color from what's listed on the sheet; you'll have to test.
While testing, with the parking lights switched on, be sure to move the dimmer wheel up and down, and verify that the state of the wire doesn't change........you want to be sure you've got the true parking light wire, and NOT the dimmer wire.
5: From the factory, the domelight probably already stays on with a delay after you enter the car.
The only advantage you'd get by hooking up the Code Alarm's domelight output is to turn on the domelight BEFORE opening the door, to see if there are any bad guys hiding in the back seat. If this isn't important to you, there's little reason to connect the domelight supervision feature.
7 and 8: I've always gotten the lock/unlock wires in the driver's kick panel. If you first remove the plastic doorsill (the part running parallel to the driver's seat), it'll reveal two Philips screws.....after removing those, the kick panel comes off......there are several plugs in there, but one of them should have the lock/unlock wires.
You can get away with just partially bending back a piece of the doorsill panel to uncover the screws, but it is hard to explain without pictures.
