safely auto r/s on 5sp is300

Instead of simply removing the clutch safety switch, I want to replace it with a couple safety measures. The lead from the unit's brain that goes to ignition would be in series with 2 separate SPDT relays...basically your standard automotive relay. The first would be activated by somehow sensing the car is in neutral (which is the part I haven't figured out yet and need help with) and the second seeing the parking brake is on.

I know all manual transmission Subarus have a neutral sensor in the transmission making something like this easy. I'm just trying to figure out if the IS300 has one. And if not, I guess I'll have to go about creating a new sensor, perhaps under the shift boot with either a limit switch or photo eye sensor.

So...if anyone could provide advice to help either one problem or the other that would be great...thanks.

well you can do that or get a Compustar remote start system that is made for manual transmissions.  Other manufacturers have a feature called "reservation mode" that will make the remote start as safe as possible.  I don't think that your post will stay unlocked unless you go with a safe manual remote start transmission.

Well "safe" is a matter of opinion. It would take some doing and complete idiocity (I'm pretty sure it would have to be deliberate), but you could get around the safety measures provided by those systems, since they don't directly sense neutral. I want this system to be controled by directly sensing whether the shifter is in a neutral system and parking brake is engaged. I don't believe it gets any 'safer' than that. I like trying new things and I take responsibility for my actions, I am only looking for friendly insight, NEW ideas (that don't revolve around a doorpin), etc. Thank you though.
