Hi all.  First post so please be kind :) I am in the UK if that is relevant to my question.

I have just had a Clifford G5 650 MkII with G5 Intellistart 4 installed into my Nissan Skyline R34 GTT (manual transmission).

The alarm works fine but the installer had some problems with the Intellistart. It only occasionally manages to start the engine, usually on the 2nd or 3rd crank. Sometimes not at all.

He will be looking at the car again next week, but I was keen to try and find out the problem myself over the weekend.

After some internet research I understand the problem is probably due to the tach / RPM setting being set too LOW so the engine is not cranked for long enough and gives up before the engine has turned over. To program the 'Mandatory RPM Programming'  I need to be in the Installer Programmable features section of the alarm.

So... how can I access this installer programmable features section??

The Directechs.com does not list the 650 MkII so I cannot download the installation guide as seems possible for earlier alarm systems.

Can anyone help me please?

Many thanks,

Glyn

It's not tach, if it was increase revs as you are programming the alarm MANUALLY the only reason to use the Wiz would be to increase cranking time, if the car normally starts instantly from cold and there is no transponder you wont need this.DON'T use Wiz, it will corrupt your settings!!! Only to be used by experts like myself.posted_image

I didn't mention anything about the Wizard. I just want to program the RPM using the two button plainview. To program the RPM I need to be in the 'installer programming section' of the alarm. This is the part I am stuck on.

Can anyone confirm what the procedure for getting into the 'installer programming section' is on the Clifford Concept 650 MkII ?

Thanks!

Okay I've now found out how to get into the installers section of the alarm.

Now, I first set the RPM to be slightly higher than idle by hold the peddle down slightly to around 1200RPM, car now starts first time but then grinds once started, then cuts out and trys another 2 times. (No good obviously!)

I then set the RPM to around 1100RPM (which is what I see the revs reach when normally starting using the key), car starts but ALWAYS on the 2nd crank!!

What can be done in order get the car to start FIRST TIME ? It's really frustrating! Alarm engineer wasn't much help other than suggesting we could just have a timed start rather than rely on RPM signals which he said are weak on the Skyline (he even had to feet some booster box to the signal).

From your last post you need to increase crank time slightly using Wizard, then manually set tach, third visit me and have it done properly! No really this is a pro-fit only and unless installed by a DEI dealer with qualified staff, they will not honour any warantees.

Thanks for that, I figured crank time would probably need increasing manually as I've just read up on the Cliffnet Wizard software. It's a shame the crank time can't be increased without the use of the Wizard! That's another £30 for no particular reason!

It's all been installed by an engineer as I needed the certificate for my insurance policy. It's just the intellistart that is causing problems. Fed up of them having to come back and look at the car so will probably order the cliffnet cable as I've already downloaded the pro version of the wizard and it looks very straight forward to use.

Am I right in thinking that as long as I only change the Intellistart section using the wizard that my original settings for the rest of the alarm will be left alone?

You will have to redo at least tach setting manually after removing Wiz connector. ONLY use Wiz for crank settings, then after manually doing tach use Wiz in  user and.or installer settings only. It would take me approx 1 hr to install an I/Start if original 650 was correctly installed.
