Hi guys,

Been watching this forum for years, great info on here, but this is my first post as I couldn't find the info I needed from searching, one was close, but not 100%

Anyways, I just picked up a compustar Pro P2W9000FMR along with a shlew of other addons, one being a DEI 520T backup battery. Has anyone ever wired in a 520T to a Pro? If so, did you use the backup battery plug supplied by Compustar? To be honest what really confuses me is the (-) ground input on the plug, why would I hook into that from my 520T rather then just using a chassis ground?

Thanks!

You can use the dei back up battery with your compustar unit. Just use the back up battery connector + and -

Why ground it to the chassis? Use the ground input on the brain but mount the battery. Zang

so just use the (-) ground input on the backup battery plug of the Pro as my ground off the backup battery?

Thanks.

yes you have to hard wire you + and - outputs to the + - inputs of the brain. should be simple

What kind of car are you installing this into?  What is the amperage rating of DEI back up battery, I know when I used to do them, id run the remote start relay pack power separately from the main brain power which was routed thru the back up battery.  That is not possible on a compustar since power for the brain and remote start are derived from the same source in the brain...

The new Compustar Pro units have a seperate input harness for a backup battery. The harness has two smaller gauge wires labeled (+) and (-). Unfortunately, the manual only says a backup battery is something Compustar will be releasing in the future. I would imagine the power from the brain is internally isolated from the power from the remote start relays.

I have no idea if using a backup battery from a 520T will work without using the included charging module.
