I have a shop that I am looking to use to install an alarm in my 2001 Excursion (diesel). They offer several brands, but suggest the Clifford. They tell me it is made by the same company (DEI) as the Viper line and are basically the same. Any comments good or bad?

Viper, Python, Clifford are basically the same.  Cliffords have a nicer look and have basically the same components unless your going for the higher cliffords.  The 3.5x is the same if im not mistaken to the 5900, 791 and pythons like the 990sst.  Only difference is the ranges.  The 5900 and 990 have the same 1 mile range bacause of the sst technology while the viper 791xv and the 3.5 have the 1/4 mile range with is FSK technology.  Anyone, please correct me if im wrong as im a little shaky with model numbers.
