is it possible to put in an aftermarket alarm and add it to one of the new 07 vehicles that has the factory remote start installled already. this way it cuts your intstallation time in half all you have to do is install the regualtr alarm and use the aux ch. to trigger the factory remote start is this anyway possible
thanks

What kind of vehicle, what kind of alarm are you planning on installing?

Did you want to use the factory fob or the aftermarket one? Not saying that it is impossible but I imagine it would be much easier triggering the alarm from the factory fob rather than vice-versa triggering the factory remote start via the aftermarket alarm. Although those bypass modules can do some amazing things.

The 1701g does this on some 07 and up GM vehicles. It makes it a very simple install.

oem remote starters especially the ones made by code are garbage. go for an aftermarket system

Newer vehicles are going the route of not requiring extra hardware to perform remote start. I work for an automotive supplier and often times remote start is nothing more then another button on the fob and some different software (if that) in the BCM. (hence a nice profit)

No, your not really taping into a remote start input wire.  You would use a 1900 made by DEI.  This module plugs into an antenna that goes on the windshield.  The wires coming out of it connect to power, ground.  After doing that you put the 1900g in programming mode and learn the 2-way remote like the 5900, 791xv remote.  When programming is complete it will control the factory system and will also add 1mile range to it or 1/4 range depending on the remote your adding.  You can also use the 1701g.  That module has an input remote start input wire just like f150fan mentioned earlier.  Before trying them though just read over the instruction manual and or call and verify that the unit will work on that specific vehicle.
