can anyone tell me how to get rid of the check engine light ?  i disconnected the battery and it resets. but  if you use the remote start it comes right back. everything is hooked up the right way and i even tried to not monitor the tach wire just set crank irme but it still comes on and i saw a post on the vehicle it says the pcm tach wire is pin 20 in the 32 pin plug but it has a 4,3 vortec and there is no pin 20 [no wire in this place] i even put it on the blk/white of the distibutor if any of this is wrong please inform so thankx

Test a white on the coil pack for tach. Although I don't believe this is your check engine light problem. BUT....anything can happen. read about the destroyed transmission. be careful, and be "for sure"

Have you tried pulling the code to see what is triggering the check engine light? This should get you much closer to solving the issue.

It is possible you are getting the bulb check. Does the light stay active once you start with the key? Or will the check engine light go out when you start with a key and don't clear the code.

If its a bulb check light, chances are you missed an ign wire.

check that your second ign (white) is being powered under remote start

thanks for all the replies but i got it figured out the second ign wire must always have power run and start so i used the second ign output through a relay and that cleared all the mess up
