I am wanting to install a Viper 791XV in an 06 WRX.  On some of the other post I have read about a 791 bypass and even saw it in a wiring diagram for the installation.  I was curious as to what a 791 bypass was and if I have to install it if I am not installing a remote start?  any help would be greatly

appreciated.

If you are just gonna be using the security features, you will not need a bypass module.

If your NOT using the remote start feature, I hope you got a real good deal on your purchase! This makes for a REAL spendy security system. Why not sell that thing, and get yourself a different alarm, AND put some money in your pocket?

Why not hook up the remote start? It can be safely done in that car even if it is a manual transmission. There is a GREEN/ black wire located at the ECU (far right plug) that shows (+) when the car is in gear. Hook that up to the brake input of the remote start. If you still decide to hook up the foot brake wire of the car to the remote start, you will have to diode isolate it from the neutral wire so they don't feed back into each other. Hook up the parking brake wire of the car to the neutral safety input of the remote start.   Then the car will have to be in neutral with the parking brake up for the car to remote start. If you need more info on how to do this, just ask. Since getting out of the industry as a full time job I have been mostly doing alarm/remote start installs for members of nasioc.com (Subaru forum) that are in my area. I am very familiar with the car.

At that point, you will need a bypass module. I recommend the 556U from DEI.
