Bought an 2002 F250 Powerstroke 7.3 used it has a KAR 4040A alarm with remote entry and fab. A few months ago the open door warning lamp started to blink occassionally, which I ignored mainly because i didn't know what to do about it.

Now when the open door light blinks the door locks start opening and closing and the back up/rear emergency lights also start blinking.

I tried tightening the door latches and spraying with WD-40 but nothing has changed. It this were only a door switch problem why are the door locks flipping out?

Because the KARR system doesn't seem to provide more than the truck come with from the factory, why was it installed? Also, since, if the Karr system is the problem, why should I pay a dealer (thats the local KARR installer) to fix it. Wouldn't I be better just removing the KARR and going back to what Ford provides? Can I do that? When they install a Karr 4040A do they remove the factory security system?

Gentleman, any help would be greatly appreciated. Border Patrol around here thinks I am pretty strange with all the flashing lights.

If you honestly feel its that system then yes you can remove it.  The factory alarm is not removed when installing an aftermarket alarm so removing the system would turn the vehicle to the original settings.  Now when you push the pin on the door in does the light go out or does it stay flashing?

Hi, went outside and searched for a button. God I wish this were the old 82 Chebby. I can't find anything external on the doors or door jams that can be a button.

By the way, the problem is intermitant. I slammed the door and the lights went out.

The door pins are at the latch IN the door itself.

Check the adjustment on the door.....just for kicks. And lube the latch.

NOT saying this is a fix....but theres nothing wrong with some maintenance.

Thanks. Loosened the latch tapped it to close door tighter and sprayed with WD-40. No change, still got "Open Door" light.

Well, I guess I would like to try posting again. There is a reply that says I can remove the KARR alarm system from my Ford 2002 F250 Diesel.

Sure would appreciate specific info. What constitutes the KARR system and what constitutes the Ford system? Where do I surgically separate the two?

Thanks.

Well, I guess there is a lesson here to be learned about KARR Alarm Systems.

All I want to do is remove a malfunctioning KARR alarm. The company won't answer email question so forget about getting any help from them.

The system itself must be so bad or so poorly documented that even people in the business--like those who read this forum--won't comment on it.

So, for alarm buyers: Beware KARR Alarms. Or, you might be stuck like I am 100 miles from a big town with a vehicle that flashes it's lights as you drive down the road.

look at your factory ignition harness there will be 2 wires a red and a yellow in what is called a t-tapit will be going to your power an ign wires there will also be a starter wire that has been severed and might have to be reconnected if you unplug those 2 wires you should be fine after you do so try and crank the truck. if it cranks your cool then hunt down the wires and find the alarm brain and either disconect or you actually can leave it in there if it does not effect anything. lastly there will be a pair of twisted orange wires that go to your starter wire if it does'nt crank you'll have to reconnect these two wires it will be a 12g wire.   i used to work for em.karr is the alarm brand  not the company that installed it. trust me.     B T W does it have that lil ugly LED pod at the bottom.   ;-]

If it says Karr, then a Karr installer installed it. Sadly... Karr installers VERY VERY rarely care about how the equipment is installed. On the Karr 4040 module(Square Grey Module with 1 16 pin harness, and several smaller molexes located next to and on opposite sides of the 16 pin wire harness) unplug the 2-wire molex with the red and light green wires. These are the lock/unlock wires and really don't need to be connected. They interfere with normal operation. Trust me. Reply if still confused.
