tach source: behind cluster

i have seen on another forum that sumone says to use 555b because it was better or something....any input??

can anyone help me??im having trouble with the bypass module, which one did u use and how did u install it?....cant really get it to start....and when i test the remote start system by leaving the key in the ignition...it starts but it sounds like it started, but its missing a coil or somehting like that..it doesnt sound normal, like it would sound when starting it manually....any help would be appreciated...thanx

umm your using a "U"? Any U should work just as good. Just make sure your transponder ring is nice and tight. Also make sure you power up like 2nd ignition or accessory sor what ever thats there. Word.

556U is the only thing (in UK anyway) that seems to work with VW and BMW cars because the RFI system used in the transponder is VERY low powered;   I wouldn't recommend anything else.

If vehicle is a diesel, use an inductive pickup across bat to alternator lead, it's safer.

Follow the instructions in the 555U for hooking up to a european vehicle.  It is different from usual.  Sounds like your tach is sketchy too.

Yes, Use the european style hookup. Don't loop the wire. Cut the one wire off the ring and tap into. Works alot better. Have fun on the new VWs. Getting to the ribbon cable that sits behind the ABS unit is not fun. I recommend taking the negative battery cable off for this RS install.
