2001 Ford Ranger / Viper 3000

1. Yellow (+) Ignition Input, "connect this wire to the (+) volts ignition wire. This wire must how (+) volts with the key in RUN position and ensure that this wire is not shorted tot he vehicle chassis at any point." Will it work correctly if I use the yellow and black stereo wire that is only hot during RUN?

2. 2 wires from the Viper Alarm, (+) Door Trigger input, violet and(-) Door Trigger input, green; found out the driver door trigger is yellow/black and passenger door is gray/red; Do I only use the green wire (-) on the Viper harness?

to answer your second question, yes, just the green wire. you must use two diodes on the wires and then connect to the green wire.

to the first question...the yellow from alarm goes to the lt GREEN/ purple in the vehicle at the ignition harness.. i dont understand the question about the black stereo wire.

your first question, since it is just an input it is possible BUT im not recommending it.
Leave security and stereo separate!

why not just use the :
IGNITION 1        LIGHT GREEN/ PURPLE (+)        IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

For door trigger, i usually use dome light, which is + so you would use the purple + input, instead of the green.
But you have to turn off notification for delayed domelight.
OR an easier path, just go with what eurobink said.

Thanks I can now figure that one out. Last question Why do you need three green immobilizer wires and also the orange wire to starter kill relay? If I plug in the immobilizer wires wont it do the same function as the orange wire to starter kill relay?

Immobilizer wiring guide "The starter immobilizer harness can be installed as a normally open or normally closed circuit by connecting the desired side of the threee wire immobilizer....

Orange (-) ground when armed output "This wire supplies (-) ground as long as the system is armed. This output ceases as soon as the system is disarmed. It can supply up to 500 ma of current."

you dont need the orange.. the main harness is same for all dei alarms.. in your case the orange could be used as a trigger for power window roll up without the need of diodes .. other than that.. clip it back or whatever you do with your unused wires.

youdont need all 3 wires.. you need the common.. the other two are a choice... i recommend normally closed. if your alarm fails, you will still be able to start your vehicle. the other way you may not be able to

and yes.. the yellow goes to an ignition.. its the only way the alarm knows if the vehicle is on or not.. it is also necessary for any programming and to clear trigger reports...

it is an input. it does not supply the vehicle with any power.. just like your door trigger

While installing an alarm I am also installing new door locks following OEM schematics (See picture below). The viper instructions say the ECU has its own unlock relay and lock relay.... My question is do I replace the OEM "All unlock relay" and "All lock relay", see picture below, with the viper relays built into the viper ECU?

From Viper Install Guide: "The system has door lock relays on board, and can directly interface with most electric power door lock systems drawing 30 ams or less. It can also drive aftermarket actuators directly. (Some vehicles requires that an aftermarket actuator be added to the driver's door to allow system control, see type D wiring section in Tech Tip Doucment 1040). The lock wire also supplies the output for the comfort closre feasture (If Used)."

Disregard my previous question. I will use this connection to complete my doors locks. I will not use the factory relay diagram....

Hi I wanted to thank everybody for their help on Friday. I believe the alarm install was a success story for me. The install took longer than expected but I got the meat done. A few issues remain, power locks and door trigger does not work.

a. I believe the power locks do not work due to the ground wire in my door panel. I used the wiring diagram in my last post for the install but I forgot to discount the ground that is connected to the factory switch.

b. Door trigger is not working because my dome light staying on and the door ajar sign is on. I think this might be a product of poor wiring install in the diode area. I plan on pulling the diodes out of the truck to see how my alarm works without the diodes.

Thanks Again,

Chris

i forgot to tell you, since u have a truck and no trunk trigger,
forget about doiode isolating,
use driver door as GREEN - input for door trigger
use passenger door as BLUE - trunk input
