Hey y'all
How long should a battery last that is being constantly drained by the alarm and is not getting recharged due to no driving?
My girlfriends 2000 honda civic ex only lasts 1 week.

My 99 Explorer has a Viper 791 and went 4 months without running.  It started up just fine when I got back.

In contrast, my mom's fully stock 2004 Ford Expedition can't go more than 3 weeks without running or it won't start.

I'd doubt it's the alarm, unless it's going off constantly.  What else do you have installed in the car?

You could have a relay sticking.

Turn off alarm, disconnect neg terminal, set a DMM to 10-20amp draw, place neg to battery terminal and pos to disconnected lead. After about 2mins, draw should be about 40-60milliamps. If over 1.5 amps something is holding on, you will have to disconnect 1 thing at a time via your fusebox inc. alarm fuses to find out. If no draw, get battery and alternator load (or drop tested) Should last about 10-14 days or a lot longer if you disconnect LED.

cool thanks for the replies.

I don't think this could be the problem but I took out a dead amplifier I had in there but never had time to take out. The resistors I think got fried, maybe it was pulling extra juice? Doubt it though.
I also disconnected the stinger fuse holder with volt meter. The lights were just led's though so I thought couldn't be draining too much right?

LED's drain more than the rest of the alarm at rest!
