anyone tried the new autopage rs 1000?

I am tossing up between the autopage RS-1000 and the compustar PRO2WSS-AS or compustar PRO2WFMAS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does the Canadian version of the PRO2WFMAS have a range of up to 6000feet?

I want to see a response to this question too. I decided that I was going to install a compustar p2wss-as, but I can't find anyone that will sell one to me without also requiring the install. So now I am considering other options and the autopage system looked like a nice option, but I am curious if anyone has tried it out.

Well wats wrong with the rs-900? isnt that the same as the 100 just with out the color?

After doing some research, i decided to go with the Autopage since it's so damn hard to get a hold of the compustar PROSWSS-AS. And even if i could get one through Ebay, It'll cost at least US$300!

My initial concern with the Autopage was the fact that the remote uses a 3.7v rechargeable lithium battery and comes with it's own charger. Now, having used and installed many alarms in the past, i was a bit skeptical about this. I mean, how many times has it happened to you where your battery ran out when you were at the shops, in a movie, at a friends house? To me, countless of times. And it's convenient just to be able to run into the shops and grab a new AA battery. Now with this fancy remote of Autopage, I reckon that it'll chew up battery more faster than even my old Compustar 2wss-as remote. So ill have to be careful and monitor the battery meter and put it on charge once a week, even though the manual suggests charging it once a month (we all know what they mean when they suggest!).

Anyway, reading through the user manual, i reckon this unit is worth a try considering all the features it has. Im still skeptical about the durability of it though, as we all are aware - the more fancy something is, the more chances of it breaking down. But together with the easy user interface and long range, i reckon i've finally found an alarm to replace my beloved compustar sw22-as (Until i get the PRO2WSS-AS that is!).
Long range is my number one priority - the longer the better. Some ignorant people will say something like, "There's no point in having a 1 mile range alarm cos by the time it takes you to get to your car 1 mile away, your car will be stolen or trashed anyway". These people don't take into consideration interference. For example, when you are in the cinemas and your car is only a few hundred feet away, all of the walls, insulation, sound dampening material etc of the cinema will reduce the range of your alarm drastically. So if your alarm has a range of lets say, 400feet - it's range now is only 100feet. No where long enough for you to know if a thief breaks into your car! That's why IMO, DEI sucks and Compustar rules.

I don't see whats so special about Compustar, I have read raves about the product, but I don't get it..I installed some of the two way and one way products and they do not seem any better or worse than DEI, Audiovox ect.

Astrostart is unique IMO and all the others are just about the same..

One thing I hate about the Compustar is the tach programming button connected to the module, and no valet switch makes it difficult for some older folkes to disarm if they loose a remote.

I am rather surprised to see the new astro stuff has tachless option. I guess with DEI as papa bear they need to move product.

Hey everyone, the compustar pro, doesnt even come close to the RS1000. 2 of my close friends both got pagers, one is a compustar pro and other is autopage rs1000. The rs1000 is nice to play with, and th ebattery last forever. i asked my friend if he charges that thing often, he said the battery last for a good 3 months no problem. the compustar however, with duracell batteries, he changes it every month. I just installed an autopage about a week ago. cant go wrong with this unit, but installing this unit fully with all features takes a good 3-5 hours with looms, scotch 33 and proper solder and heat shrink.

Thats intresting we have done many compustar pro 2w900fmr's without any battery issues like that our customers are getting 3-4 months on a battery. I have one on the shop truck and its demonstrated atleast 7-8 times a day and I am getting 2 months at a minimum.
