Comfort closure is used to give the lock wire a pulse to lock and then an extended pulse to make the windows roll up. It can only be done to vehicles that roll the windows up when turning the key in the door cylinder to the left and then doing it again and holding it. The vehicle at that point should have an anti-pinch feature that will make it safe.
thanks for the replies guys, but it seems there's some confusion - I know this feature is used to close the windows not lock the doors, but in order for the comfort closure to be activated the install manual says that after locking the doors a 20 second 200ma pulse is sent down the lock wire (GREEN/ black) to activate comfort closure. My question is would this try to power my central lock motor for 20 seconds? I know the 5000 has on board locking relays, and that if I were to wire this I would have to add a seperate relay to the closure circuit as the output down the lock wire is only 200ma, as opposed to a full 12v from the onboard relay, its just that I'm afraid of burning out the lock motor if I try to wire this feature if i'm wrong? Also, what is "anti-pinch"?
Every maker is different. An example is a German car like Volkswagen.....I worked on an 03 and added the comfort closure just by turning on the feature since the lock wire is the same as the arm wire. The alarm will pulse the wire which is the same as if you turn the key to the right on the key cylinder and then make a continuous pulse which also the same as if you were holding the key on the right position. Its gives an extended pulse but when the car senses that the windows are closed it disables it.
Now, I worked on an 04 Acura TL. The car needs to be locked in order for it to do the comfort closure. In this case the arm wire is seperate from the lock wire. The lock wire was at the kick panel while the arm wire was at the actual door. The arm wire needs to see the doors closed and locked first and then with an extended pulse activates the windows to go up.
Note: Its the same method for the windows to go down. Unlock and then it works..... Also Comfort closure will not work when the car is turned on. I've also seen that it doesnt work when you take out the key and arm. It must actually sense the door open and then close for it to work. You don't have to worry about this because you leave your car thus doing this all the time...Hope you understand somewhat what im saying.
Enice funny you should say that because I did an old ('89) blimey that's almost as old as me today and the left door deadlock and close clockwise, the right door anti! Its easier to say turn key to lock position and hold. N.B. Through away your directwire "go to under left hand seat to pick up locks and contacts" you can pull ign lock, alrm lock and deadlock and total close off two wires in the driver's kickwell Regards H.
