I plan on installing either a Viper 791XV or Viper 5900XV into a 2001 Nissan Maxima w/ factory alarm. I've read the Directechs but still need clarification on a few things. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. How do I wire up priority unlock (comes with factory alarm)?

2. If I RS the car w/o unarming, will the factory alarm go off (I am connecting "Factory Arm"/"Factory Disarm" wires)? How do I remedy this?

3. Must I connect the "Lock Motor" and "Unlock Motor" wires?

4. How is the second starter wire programmed?

1) Set up secondary output to feed a relay, use this to unlock unlock motor wires from control unit to other three doors, use the alarms unlock output to ony do the motor wires on driver's door.

2) Connecting factory arm/disarm should achieve this.

3) See 1  above

4) Starter output to 87 and 86 of relay, ground to 85 and output 30 to 2nd. starter wire.

1. That's kind of a pain to hook up.....but the install manual doesn't show you how?

If not, look at the "relays" section on this site.

2. The factory alarm will disarm all by itself when the car is started. No need to hook up factory disarm.

3. No and yes.

Typically these wires are used when installing an aftarmarket alarm, that will work off the factory remotes. So, for a basic install of your Viper, the answer is no.

However, the "unlock motor" is the wire you're looking for to do the driver's-priority unlock.

It'll test as positive when you unlock ONLY the driver's door with the FACTORY remote.

4. I don't believe Viper offers programming for a second starter output.

However, the Viper does offer two ignition outputs, and your car has only one. You can "borrow" the second ignition output.

On the ribbon harness for the relay pack.........cut the small pink/white in half, and open (but don't cut) the small purple.

Tape off the half of the pink/white that comes from the alarm brain.

Jump the other half of the pink/white onto the purple.

Now, the thick pink/white wire will behave as a starter output.

P.S. This car can be hard if all you have is the tech sheet. But there are many tricks.

Be sure to use the search feature both here, and at www.carsound.com.

The Infiniti I30 or I35 is the same car, so search for that too.
