Very frustrated here.
My 00 4runner limited is nice but when it comes to installing this Viper791 it sux!!

I have become to understand the doorlock DIODE but before I connect the DOOR-Trigger, I like to test the alarm. Right now the LED is solid as if it is in valet mode. I try to disable valet mode via remote & valet button but the led is still solid with no confirming chirps. The Panic works fine (siren WHALES!).

Do you think there is something wrong with the viper or in order for the alarm to work, there needs to be a trigger installed?

Last but not least I bought a NEW shocksensor and notice it has an additional green wire coming from it. What is that for?

I have been working on this for 2 days.
If someone has SUCCESSFULLY installed this unit or a RS unit for that matter, PLEASE PLEASE give me a hand. Maybe a step by step. I will pay!

Thanks guys/gals!

How to enter/exit valet switch:
Since you dont have door trigger hooked up,
turn ignition on then off then tap the valet switch once.

once you hook up your door trigger you can use the remote by opening the door, pressing LOCK UNLOCK LOCK (or LOCK AUX LOCK) not sure which one, but one of them will work.

about the shock sensor, the looped green end goes to the shock sensor while the free green goes to the brain.
That free green wire is zone 2 on the remote (zone 1 is shock sensor), so you can hook up extra sensors.

whats the problem you are having with diodes. its common for cars to require diodes...
negative flows from bandside to non-bandside

what specifically do you need from the 4runner that you dont have hooked up?

you can also use the search button if you still need help.

Hey thanks for the reply.
I have searched and read everything about the RS install for the 4runner.

Thing is I did attempt to exit VALET via ignition and STILL a solid LED and no confirm chirp. I was just testing to make sure I had the MAIN wires connected right.

I have found all the connections and everything but it is just aggrivating me that the chirps and it will not exit valet.

Thanks and if you have anymore ideas please let me know

Don't you need to have the door open when you go in/out of valet mode?

If so, without the door pins hooked......how does it know if the door is open?

My in a hurry screw-up is to plug the  white LED plug into the blue valet switch receptacle. You will get a dim illumination with the alarm not responding to the remote. Check this out and if this is the case kick yourself but you've done no damage! Just correct it. By the way on a back to basics note is your antenna plugged in? As Kar Tune Man knows I've been having a bad Lexus week!

No I think I have the LED plugged into the right spot. The LED just stays solid. I will connect the DOOR trigger in a min.
Thank you everyone for the help. This is the hardest install I have ever done.
WHEW!!

dang it..
Ok...I cut the ring off of the 556U and now I am lost to which connection i put the RED / BLK & BLACK/ Wire to.

DO I connect them to the Keysense or did I fudge up by cutting the ring off?

Again, thanks to everyone for your assistance. Wire tucking is difficult with that little space we have under our dash.

its a good thing you cut that ring off, i hate those ring that comes with the 556U, i prefer a think gauge wire (telephone or whatever you have).
556U isnt tight enough for me, i rather wrap my own wire around the key cylinder.
(dont even use DEI bypasses, prefer Trilogix or idatalink)

So, just connect the thin gauge wire to the wires you cut off and wrap it around the key cylinder several times (test how many wraps you need, varies on different car)

I dont have to worry about space when working on 4runners, maybe if you cut off wires your not using and tape everything in one direction then you could cut down on space required.

ahhhh...thanks for the advise..
well the visible wires are BLCK/RED, BLK/WHITE and Black. Should I wrap the BLACK/ red around front of key cynlinder?

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I cannot adjust the SHOCK sensativity. i try to adjust by hitting the windshield, doors and OPENING the door while armed. The alarm will not go off.
I have the door trigger connected or should it be connected to the domelite supervision?

Other than that crap, I have it under control mostly.

Thanks again for everyones help.

it should say, wrap the thin wire around the key cylinder several time, then have one end connected to the black, the other end to BLACK/ red.
Dont need to use BLACK/ white

if your alarm is not going off, then its probably in Nuisance prevention mode. just reset the alarm by turning the ignition on then off. read more about it in the manual

your door trigger is correct, dont need to use domelight.

Captainzab,

The 556U's manual sux!!
See, I thought I had to have the KEYSENSE wire tapped. BUT now I know. I bet $100 it will work now since I will do that. I have some telephone wire very thin strand. 22-25guage. I HOPE this works.

I have the shocksensor mounted on the steering column very secure. Now last night, some dummy bumped my truck and it WENT off immediately. But if I test it with the windows down and open the door, it does not go off.

I will read the manual again but I dont think it is in Nuiance Prevention mode. I thought that was a good thing no?? Keep it from going off when planes, trains or whatever rides by.
Oh well.

Thank you for all of your help. I cannot wait to get off from work to TRY!!

HEADS UP YOU TOYOTA 4runner installers:

The DOOR Trigger is WAY behind the FUSE box. GREEN w/black STRIPE. There are alot of green and black but the FUSE box up top is the door TRIGGER.

The BYPASS: DO NOT USE THE 556U.
USE BYPASS: 555XW much easier to use.
I learned the hardway.

Thanks to everyone who has help me with this LONG install.

Thanks
