Viper 7900, it's all about the range, and defroster output that doesn't require hitting a second button

^I think hes just kidding bc most of the popular units were out can do those things and many more. Theres a relay section on this board that turn a pulse trigger into something phenomenon.

Autostart AS6850TW-Fm, IMO one of the best new units on the market right now.

Most Viper7900's i've seen have horrible range, about 20% of the 5900sst. Probably because it's an AM piece with a pretty remote.

I have had a clifford avantguard5 in multiple cars, and will be installing  an intel8000 in my current car in the near future.

My only complaint is that neither of these have paging remotes and the new avantguard is expensive as all get-out.

5900 Viper has much better range than the 7900... it's in my vehicle (actually the Clifford version as i prefer the CF remote)

I have used a couple different brands for myself in the past. Omega research, Avital, and Harada. I probably will use another Omega Research because they have internal relays unlike the DEI products with the relay pack that you need to find space for along with the brain. In theory the idea of an off board relay pack has it's advantages but also it has negatives as well. Just kinda makes a bigger bunch of wires to try to fit under dash and make neat even when you trim them down. The plus side it doesn't create heat near the main brain components inside module.
But with other units like the Omega, Micro Alarm and the old Valet start I never had an issue with that. I have had very good luck with the Omega remote units and only had a few returns over about 3 1/2 years and just a couple of the Micro Alarm remote starter units had to get replaced. The tech support of Micro was up to date and a tech was almost always available to help.
I guess when you install these you get to see which ones are more reliable, easier to install and which are more user friendly.
I will however install a Viper for my wife in a 2006 Kia Optima to see how well it works.

i would use the autopage rs1000 by far the best range and most features. with a simple install. on board relays and the remote has got to be the coolest remote available.

I agree with hydrodancer91 on the autopage. I have the Auto page 860 on my truck, and my wife's Altima. Great peice, great price and you can't beat the features. SIX CHANNELS! Built in remote start timer activation, temp sensor, all you could ask for without having to add extra modules. Any other sytem with this many output channels doesnt have remote start, you have to add it on. Plus the range on the 2way pager/remote is outstanding. The only time I have trouble is when I'm at work, But the building has solid concrete walls all around it.

How's the Viper 791xv?
price point wise, I'm thinking it's not a pretty decent buy, no?
