2002 camry, audiovox aps 998

I'm installing the Audiovox APS-998 in a 2002 toyota camry 4 cylinder, and I'm confused about the programing. When programing selectable features, do you program each feature consecutively, or do you enter the programing mode and press the valet switch the number of times corresponding with desired feature.

I know that whenever I did an Audiovox I would just do one feature at a time cause if I tried to do it consecutively something always went array. that being said I am 99.99% positive that you can do them consecutively as long as you get the valet button pushes right. but it is almost easier to do them one by one, then again my shop did not sell many of them so someone else might come on and say that they are easy to program consecutively. which ever works for you.

You can skip past the features you don´t want to change, one at a time, and they will stay the way they were.

It goes like this.

You´ll be using the ignition key, the valet switch, and the lock button on the remote.

(Keep in mind that whoever designed this setup......well, it makes a lot of unnecessary noise. Probably not something you want to do at night.)

--Key on (to Run). Press (and release) the valet switch 3 times.

(You´ll hear one short chirp or horn honk. This is to program the remotes. If your remote is already programmed to the unit, don´t do anything.)

--Key off, key on. (One or two loud chirps, I forget.)

You´re now in the second menu, the one that has the door lock settings, passive/active arming, and all that.

Press the valet switch once.

You´ll hear one honk, and see one flash on the LED.

This means:

one LED flash: you´re sitting at the first option, for door lock pulse.

One chirp: The door lock pulse is sitting at the first setting.

If you were to press the Lock twice button on the remote, you´d get:

one LED flash: you´re still sitting in the doorlock pulse programming position.

three honks: the locks are set for double-pulse onlock.

The LED is to tell you which FEATURE you´re at.

The chirps are to tell you which SETTING you´ve selected.

So, anyway, you´d continue with the valet switch...............tap it once more, and now you´re in the ignition-lock section......and so forth.

Keep going down the list until you get to where you want.......... maybe you want passive arming for example? You´d keep moving along with the valet switch until you get to the feature you want.........and then press ´lock´on the remote to move over to the setting you want.

--Key off, key on. (two loud chirps.)

You´re now in the third section, the remote starter features.......runtime, tach/voltage, and so on.

This menu works just the same as the last one.

The valet switch takes you to the feature, and then the lock button changes the setting.

----Key off. (one loud chirp.)

NOTE: Immediately after you turn the key off, the remote start doesn´t work right away.........leave the car alone for 10 seconds, or pressing and releasing the brake will eliminate the delay.
