window lift issue

Hello all, first time to post here so forgive me if ive done anything wrong in posting this here, these rules are pretty daunting haha! already had a quick look to see if such a post exists and it seems not.

ive put in many a window lifter kit (the kind that forces 12v out to the motor in order to roll it up all the way) but ive come across an intermittent problem in two types of vehicle.

one is a 2006 model Mitsubishi Lancer and the others a late model Toyota Hilux (australian versions of both cars that is to say). the issue is most times they will roll up all the way perfectly.

BUT once in every so many times it will roll up, only to come back down 20mm-50mm or so. now this window lift by way of design and installation cannot power the motor in reverse so it has to be something in the vehicle causing the windows to go down.

sometimes in the lancer ive found the drivers window will be all the way down when armed.

im sure it has something to do with the safety mechanisms in the power windows that wind them down a little if you stick your hand in them but cant work out how to stop this problem..

i thought perhaps the safety mechanism senses the current and as the window lifters power the motor from its own 12v source it cant detect this properly and engages the safety mechanism.

who knows.. maybe someone here can shed some light to the matter! thanks. hope to chat to some of you soon.

I have a Galant and when I hit the (one touch) up on the driver's side at 60+mph it goes to the top and then retreats 6-9" . Therei s obviously a factory "obstruction sense" which is set incorrectly. If you have a one touch up you might need to address this or try the old standby of WD40 in the channels.

Be careful what you put into a window track. I really gummed up my Acura Legend run channels when I put WD-40 in them as it attacked the rubber. Any lubricant that contains silicone is safe for rubber, otherwise read the label carefully before applying.
