If you only have 1 master sentry key, can the dealer program a REGULAR transponder key to have for a spare? I have a customer with an 04 durango who only has 1 sentry key and no spares. I just called a dodge dealer and they told me you HAVE to program a sentry key (which is $150+$50labor= $200!) they say you CANNOT program a normal transponder key to that system when you only have one master? is this true? or are they just trying to make a buck?

(i know you can program a normal key when you have 2 master keys, if this guy had 2 sentry keys i could program him a spare for alot less than $200)

does anyone make an interface that will learn the code with only 1 key? so far i checked transponderbypass and they only make a universal box for this vehicle. i know DEI makes the 556c, you need 2 keys to program that as well.

your missing the point of my question. Is the dealer telling the truth that you HAVE to use a sentry key to code a "spare" key if you only have 1 sentry key to begin with? why cant the dealer code a normal $20 key WITHOUT the remote built in?

If the Durango was made on or before July 2004 the dealer will also need to replace the SKIM module under warranty before they can code a key. There is a note about it on bypasskit.com
