Just finished hooking up a Viper 5900 in a 2004 Odyssey. Went to start doing the 556HW, and i couldn't find the 7 pin harness to connect into. I was hunting around the steering column, and found two green plugs behind the cylinder. one had i think 3 wires, and the other 4 wires, but they were 2 separate plugs. I then hunted some more, but couldn't find any 7 wire plugs that had colors that matched the manual for the 556HW. (I assume i'm in the right place?)

There are only 4 wires that you need to find. Use the 4 wire harness for the Synchro & data wires.

Thanks for the info Jeff.. I found that cross referencing with Bypasskits install guide led me to your answer... I'll be giving this a shot tomorrow.. all should be well..

I had the column apart tonight cleaning up the wiring of the 5900... Going to tackle the 556H tomorrow... Quick question for those who are familiar with the unit... Do you normally disconnect the batt to connect the 556, or do you unplug the green plug of the immobilizer, or do you do nothing and just make your connections. I know that it's better to be safe, so i'll likely diconnect the batt again to make my connections. Just wonder what you all do.?

Just make the connection to the Immobilizer wires without disconnecting the battery.

SUCCESS!!! Thank Jeff and everyone else that supplied so much information. I can't believe how easy the 556 was to program. So.. The wife is out with the Van right now, but here's maybe a silly question. The 556 imitates the key being in the ignition so the remote start will engage. On the EX, the door lock trigger turns on the factory security. I know when you are in the van, and turn on the factory security on, by placing the key in the ignition turns it off.. does this mean that one could forgo the factory alarm disarm relay?    Just curious...

It depends on what is disarming the OEM alarm system. Is it the key sense ? The ignition ? The accessory ? or is it the fact that the Immobilizer chip is in the ignition column ? or is it all the above ?

You will need to play around with the different options available. I tried this with a 2005 Dodge truck as well and it ended up being the OEM Immobilizer was needed to be activated prior to the remote start engaging to disarm the OEM security because I couldn't find a proper disarm/unlock resistance on the truck.

If pulsing the ignition or accessory is the trick then see if there's a programmable option on the remote start that will do this cause the Compustar systems that we install give you a programmable option to pulse IGN , ACC or both prior to remote start.
