Hello,
I am new to the remote start installation. I just installed the Viper 5900 Alarm/Remote Start on my 1999 GMC Suburbun (7.4l 454). When i remote start it, the truck starts but the service engine soon light comes on and my vehicle doesn't shift(it stays in 2nd gear only). But, if i go ahead and turn the truck off and cycle the key (reset the alarm) the vehicle starts fine with the key. Is there something i hooked up wrong? I do suspect that the Ignition 3 wire has something to do with it...I don't know.(i didn't hook up the ignition 3 wire) if i need to hook up the ignition 3 wire how do i do that, since there are only 2 ignition wires on the alarm?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As KarTuneMan has already stated, your white second ignition is not being powered up correctly. The brown is an accessory and is not normally needed. DO NOT DRIVE the truck using the remote start until that white wire is energized as ignition.

Most accessory wires power up the heater/ blower motor and A/C. But the main problem is the ignitions are not being powered as ignition and could be wired as accessory. Which will confuse the computer. make sure the 2nd ignition wire is set as 2nd ignition and not as accessory.

i just checked the white wire and it was connected, so i probe the wire while i was remote starting it and there was no voltage. i did find the problem though. i didn't hook up the RED / white wire from the relay satellite. i assumed that it did not need this but i assumed wrong!! thanks for the help, you guys pointed me in the right direction!!

Not being a DEI guy, am I correct in assuming that the RED / white is a 12v input for the remote start? -------------
