Its a viper 5900... and i sometimes need to be able to get into the car without the viper remote so i have to use my key in the door, first off i am assuming that WILL set off the alarm right? and also how exactly do i use the valet switch to disarm it after the door is opened?

ok it looks like u just turn the igition on then press the valet the preset number of times and it shuts off after 5 seconds. Now the question is how do i preset the number of presses? in the manual it says the default is one, but then the 2nd option is 2-5 so how can u get a number between 2 and 5? here is a pic of what i am saying from the manual.

Either read the manual 20 times and it still doesn't work OR borrow a bitwriter.

The DEI programming instructions can be vague at best. Open a door then turn your ignition on then off. Press and hold the programming button until the siren chirps twice. Release and press the programming button 5 times holding it in on the 5th press the siren will chirp 4 times. Continue holding the programming button and press unlock on the transmitter until the siren chirps the number of times you want your valet switch set to.
