Installed a crime stopper RS-1804-DPII with the OFA (one for all) bypass on the 2003 Ford Expedition. The remote starting portion is intermittent. Meaning the car will start shut off and start again and stay running. Sometimes it will start and stay running on the first attempt and other time it takes two attempts. I initially thought tach, but it is doing the same thing in both modes(tach and tachless). I did not run a wire to disarm the factory alarm ...will that be the issue? I do not think I could ever find the factory disarm wire.

What you can do is leave the key in the cylinder(do not turn) and try to remote start.  If it remote starts all the time then it may be a bypass issue.  If it gives you the same issue then you should try getting a new tach signal.  The question I would ask too is where did you pick up your tach signal in the first place?

I will try the key in the ignition this week. I thought I did,but I can not remember. I picked up the tach signal at the injector wire( not RED / green).

According to customer, when key was in cylinder, the car did not remote start at all. Customer said it remote started, but did not stay running until after second attempt. Two days later, customer says car is not remote starting at all, but lights are on and gets a confirmation that is running on two way. I rechecked all wiring and it was good.

AFAIK the Ford factory immobilizer won't shut off the car if it is running; it only keeps it from starting.  If the red light on the dash doesn't flash rapidly when it's starting, than it's probably not a bypass issue.

I'm not a professional installer. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Re-check your tach signal.  Try learning it again.  The wire that should at least be used is white.  It seems like your crimestopper unit is not sensing that the vehicle is and tries to re start again.  I don't deal with crimestopper at all but I would suspect that this is whats causing the remote start failure.

I actually have two issues. Tach and bypass. The tach source is good, but I did not properly program the unit for tach. Unlike what the customer told, the car only remote while key was iginition. I will recheck bypass connections as I am puzzled while the bypass keeps losing it's program.

I was using an OFA-30. I got this bypass from crimestopper. That bypass was suppose to be universal as you download what car you need it for. I download the latest version 1.6. I replaced it with an omega bypass which is really from bypasskits.com and it is working fine. I have to figure out why sometime it has to start twice before it stays running. I mention earlier that I used a RS-1804, but it was the 1704. I put this unit in tach mode, but it was overcranking. I was kind of puzzled as you usually see overcranking in tachless mode. I know ny tach source is good, because I measured it and I got it right at injector.

Try to get a different source...i went directly to a injector on a maxima and it still didnt crank right the first time.  I decided to go behind the instrument cluster and got a different wire and worked all the time.

Do you have an idea where I can find another tach wire for this vehice? There was suppose to be one located on the driver's side wire harness on the firewall (white wire). I did not see a solid white wire at all and the wire WHITE/ pink was not a tach source.
