I recently got a FM-2009 remote start/alarm and had it instlled on my 02 SD auto/diesel/Pwr locks, no factory alarm but it has factory keyless entry and autolamps. After the install the remote start seems to work but the system keeps trying to arm and disarm itself. The pwr locks keep going up and down along with the alarm chirping and lights flashing. The LCD remote also shows the door being violated for about 1 min after arming it then shows everthing being ok.Relays were put in for the locks. Was wondering if there could be a problem with the unit? The installer triple checked all wires according to diagram in manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey Gary, it almost sounds like the installer took power from the parking light output to the relay bacnk for the door locks ? It's a basic system to install. Print this out for your installer & ask him to check out the relays for the door locks again :

Notes:
*1 Without keyless entry use pink / YELLOW for lock and pink/lt. green for unlock. They are 5 wire reverse polarity mastered from the driver switch and found in either kick panel. With keyless entry use WHITE/ red for lock and BLACK/ white for unlock. They are negative trigger and found at the VSM. On the vehicles with keyless entry the GEM shuts down after the doors have been locked for a certain time period, to 'wake-up' the system refer to directfax document #1094. *2 The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is to the right of the accelerator pedal above the transmission hump below the radio. Not accessible from radio opening. *3 For tach go to any one of the ignition coils and use the wire that is NOT RED / lt. green. On diesel vehicles the tach wire is green or white, in a 42 pin plug under the clamp on the engine side of the air intake duct. On diesel vehicles the wait to start light is activated by a databus wire from the ECM. To do wait to start use a pulse timer relay and follow directfax document #1091. *4 Also found at the radio on vehicles that have the in-dash CD changer.

Thanks Jeff!! I will check with him. Do you know if it matters if it has factory auto lock or not? I deactivated it according to the owners manual and it still does it. Also do you have to make the wire connections at the VSM or can you make them at the drivers door switch.Do you think it even has a VSM even though it doesnt have factory alarm? Im trying to learn more about this truck so if I have problems with it I can understand it better. I even bought your CD-rom to pass along to the installer to help him with the wireing.I thought it was packed full of lots of info.Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary.
