ive hooked up an alarm to my truck that has factory keyless entry..when i hook up the alarm, my door switches dont work immediately. so i dont think it has GEM...without the alarm, i lock the doors, that after several minutes, reach inside the window to unlock using the switch and it works..so according to the directions on how to test for GE M, i do not have it..what would cause the door switches not to work..

The bcm, gem, whatever you want to call it, is "goin to sleep" it powers down.

You can shut that feature off. Try this.

get in the truck, all doors closed turn on ign. hit unlock 3 times on the door switch. THEN, turn ign. off, hit unlock 3 times, THEN, turn ign. on, hit lock 2 times.... you should hear 2 horn honks. Done!

The bcm, now, will not go to sleep.
