hey everyone, i say my neighbour doing his alarm a day ago so i decided to help him. His car is a 98 accord EX 2 door. When he bought the car, he only got 2 keys, one master and a valet key, no key fobs. So, from wiring diagrams i see there are factory alarm disarm/arm wires, but does the car even have one? I just want to make sure because i dont want his car to start then wail on him, then how can he stop it without factory key fobs. also does anyone know how the factory arm/disarm works if it does happen to have it? thanks

Arms and disarms with the door locks on the EX models.  The LX models arm only with the factory transmitter.  To be sure you can lock the door and wait a minute or 2.  After that you would manually open the door from inside and see if it goes off.

The arm/disarm do exist on EX models as standard. The two wires located at the door. Look for the 3 wires harness. There is a connector that switches color code, but the color of disarm youre looking for is blue.

alright, thanks alot guys. well he can remote start the car without it wailing on him so thats a good thing. Now, another issue we both ran into today. The unit he has is an automate, the bypass he's using is a HONDA SL3 by fortin. The RS unit has ground out when running but only active for 10 seconds. he can get the car to start - sometimes, but after the ground when running stops, the car stops as well. Arent immobilizers only active during remote start then after it has started, the unit is no longer drequired? andd to finish this off when we remote start, the key symbol in the dash will sometimes go off then start successfully, and other times the light will just flash(bypass is on)

i really want to help out my neighbour, i had done a few alarms before and remote start, but never had installed this unit before.

The RS unit has ground out when running but only active for 10 seconds.

This can't be the correct wire if it's only triggering for 10 seconds!

it says BLUE - connect to bypass module, isnt that the same function as a ground out when running? but can you tell my why sometimes the key in the dash will go off while it remote starts successfully, and sometimes it will flash the key and wont start. Is my bypass unit defected?

I would certainly check this (I hate to call it this) "status output" with your meter to see whats going on.

What exactly is being installed?

car: 98 accord
alarm/start: automate
bypass module: Honda SL3

the bypass output gives a ground but only for so long, is it possible i can tap into the wires that trigger the start relays? they rest at 12 but switch to ground during remote start.

after using my DMM and testing the wires, the status output is only active for 20 seconds or so, after that the wire has n o ground and the bypass is then turned off, which also in turns the car off. THe unit for some reason does NOT have a dedicated ground out when running.

Transponder is only needed prior startup. After that you do not need it. Be sure the bypass is active right b4 ignition wires are activated.
