Hello all, i've been an avid "watcher" of the forums here for quite some time, and used the wiring diagrams many times for my own installs. There is quite an overwhelming amount of knowledge here!
Anyhow, I just installed a new DEI Hornet 564T in my 92 Saturn SC. Everything seems to function alright, and i've mostly been happy with the system. The only problem that I have, is when I remote start the vehicle. I can remote start the vehicle from inside my apartment, or even further away. It has really good range, but once the car is running, my range is cut to about 30 feet from the car. I've not got any kinks in the wiring to the transciever, and I have it mounted at the top center of my windshield vertically (wiring coming out of the headliner).
My question is, is there any way to increase the range while the car is running? Do you think there might be some kind of interference at work here? Are there any other readily available transcievers that will work with this system, that might increase the range a little bit?

This sounds like you have some type of interference. Did you mount the brain of the unit close to any control modules? Is the brain close to metal? Can you move the brain from it's current location to try others?
To my knowledge there is no other transceiver you can add to increase range.

The brain is behind the steering column. I took off the top piece of the dashboard, and ran the wires down from there to the ignition wires that I needed. As far as i know, there are no control modules located in the immediate area, but I will have a second look. This seems odd, as for some reason my car is really noisy on the AM band, perhaps there is a correlation? I have also noticed a bit of ignition noise on FM stations sometimes, but 434 and 88-108mhz are pretty far apart...

Sounds like this could be the problem. Yes the frequency bands are indeed apart, however you do not know specifically what is causing the interference to determine the actual frequency range the noise is affecting. ------------- Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
