Hey all, currently installing a compustar 2 way into a 2006 torrent and can not get the vehicle to crank. I did not install a acc. dropout relay because i was under the impression that the compustar simulates the ign on / acc dropout sequence. I am also using a passlock sl2 module for the anti theft system, which programmed without a problem. the compustar seems to be working, ie. receives the signal and starts the start sequence but just does not want to crank. I have also learned and verified the tach signal. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

You must power the brown accessory wire as an accessory for the starter to crank. This vehicle is unique in that it doesn't have a starter wire but in order for the PCM to enable the crank relay, it must see the correct Passlock II voltage and the brown acc wire come on then off prior to cranking.

Thanks for the reply sparkie. I beleive the compustar imitates the starting sequence anyway, but I did install the ign delay relay as well as a acc. drop out relay with the same result. I am begining to wonder if it may be the passlock sl2 causing an issue, but as i said previously there was no problem programming it and i think i would be getting the theft light come on if it was the bypass module. Any other thoughts out there, i also tried the no tach setting for the heck of it, again with the same result.

Do you have the ORANGE & ORANGE / BLACK attached to the YELLOW wire at the steering column ? Also, if the remote starter activates the dash lights ( for ignition turn on ) and the vehicle doesn't crank, chances are the Passlock is not being bypassed properly. I just had one of the other guys come to me locally that installs remote starters and he had a 2006 Torrent and we started with a different bypass module that wasn't working and ended up using a ADS-TBSL-PL and it cranked in the first try after programming. We left all the rest of the wiring the way it was and it ended up being the bypass module.

thanks for the reply Jeff, It turned out to be the actuall 4200dx module. For some reason even with the ground when running wire working, it was not activating the passlock sl2 module, therefore not cranking. I put in an older 4200 that I had and it cranked and fired up first time. Troubleshot for a very long time before going to the other 4200. Thank-you very much for taking the time to reply
